If you're in sales, or looking to drive an audience (like a marketing company, for example) Adobe Campaign is a great program to work with. It's best suited with someone whom is a social media strategist, this kind of tool is really their best friend. Any kind of creative agency that's looking to drive sales/clicks for their clients can find this as a very useful tool, as well. It's just an overall great experience working with a program that "gets" online marketing

Marketo ABM

If you have the time and resources to utilize it, then it's great. It works well for running drip campaigns to nurture new leads online. I also like that it integrates well with many other programs such as BrightTalk.

  • The user interface is easy to navigate, even for beginners.
  • You don't need to know MySQL to set up workflows.
  • You can build personalized emails by using modules with contitions set by previous behaviours and interests.

  • It is essentially open source, so you can do whatever you want with it. If you have the time and designated resources, you can make it do almost anything you want as far as marketing automation.
  • I like the community of users. It offers a chance to connect with Marketo experts even if you are the lone Marketo wolf in your organization.
  • The ability to utilize existing templates for marketing design helps a lot when you are just getting started --- especially if you don't have an email designer on staff.

  • Custom Report Creation can be simplified and made more visual like Tableau
  • UI can definitely be made more intuitive and slick
  • Remove limitation of Windows Only for running AC Client Console
  • Support for RESTful services can be improved
  • Integration with third party vendors for SMS,Push can be simplified and made bug free

  • If you don't have an email designer on staff and you don't like to do design research on your own, it can be awfully hard to use the design studio. Templates break all the time, and I've lost many, many, many emails from breaking the html template.
  • If you want an out of the box solution, the isn't for you. It would be nice to have an easier way to get sample programs to pull in when you are pressed for time and just want it done.
  • Need a way to test how your emails will look in various email programs without leaving Marketo

We feel that Neolane really adds value to our organization and has allowed marketing to progress - storing databases more efficiently, sharing campaigns across the world, pushing leads directly into our CRM system. We are very invested in the tool since we took a good bit of time to customize it, so I anticipate we will renew our use.

I would say that generally the knowledge of the support team we work with is good, great even.I can't say that they seem to be very interested or involved in trying to make the product work best for us.They do what needs to be done, and they do it well - but not really going the extra mile.

Alternatives Considered

Look, Adobe Campaign is the best program to use for your online media marketing. Adobe understands what online marketers and social media strategists need, and deliver the proper tools necessary for them to be successful. I swear by Adobe, they've earned my trust and I will continue to use their programs throughout my career. Everything else is just...noise. Until I find a program with better customer service than Adobe, I will always be a fanboy.

I used HubSpot in a previous position. HubSpot seemed more user friendly, but that was because it limited your functionality. If you aren't willing to learn new tricks, then HubSpot might be easier to use. But if you want to be the cool marketer on the street with all the new tricks, then you should use Marketo.
