Adobe Campaign

We have several campaigns to fundraise money, and each campaign is targeted to a specific audience. When it comes to reaching many people with various demographics, Adobe Campaign is perfect because it helps us understand our marketing and our targets. When we have a small scale venture then it is not so helpful because we don't need something with so many elements and customization features, we sometimes just need simplicity.

SalesGenius

Genius is well-suited for a smaller company looking to do one-off campaigns and not necessarily needing to track within a separate system. For example, the professional version of Salesforce is probably an ideal size for Genius. For a more enterprise/larger company I wouldn't suggest Genius be used.

Pros

  • It helps simplify our email marketing fundraising efforts, helping to build detailed and functional email campaigns.
  • It consolidates our performance data and analyzes all of our campaigns
  • It has great personalization tools to create custom and creative campaigns

  • Reporting - we can send out emails all day, but if we don't have something to report to the client after-the-fact it voids the entire process. Genius provided a visually stimulating reporting tool.
  • Tracking - Genius was great at tracking opens, clicks, bounces, hard bounces, etc. This helped us clean up our system as we sent campaigns out.
  • CRM Integration - Genius was great about tracking each contact (in Salesforce) and their activity via emails.

Cons

  • Neolane is not very user-friendly, especially when using it to store a marketing database and blast email campaigns. It took multiple training sessions for casual users to understand and be ready to use the tool.
  • The Neolane Leads module is not adequate for the extensive lead qualification we do. It was necessary for us to build a separate system and then link it back to Neolane.

  • CRM Integration - Although Genius was great at tracking individual activity, there wasn't a way to pull over specific campaign details (ie, bounces, deliverables, statistics, charts). Our end-users not participating in the direct campaign had no way of knowing the results from within Salesforce.
  • Communication - I had a difficult time contacting Genius when I had issues or questions.

The communication was insufficient at the end of our contract and after, which makes it difficult to work with as a primary product. The pricing was extremely attractive, but kind of lead to "you pay for what you get", which doesn't work in a company our size. I do think the ease of use was higher than our current contract, but the CRM integration was lower.

I would say that generally the knowledge of the support team we work with is good, great even.I can't say that they seem to be very interested or involved in trying to make the product work best for us.They do what needs to be done, and they do it well - but not really going the extra mile.

Alternatives Considered

MailChimp is more user-friendly, is a bit easier to use, and is a more affordable product in comparison to Adobe. However, with Adobe Campaign one can produce more professional looking products since it tends to be used by more advanced users. Also, the analytics on Adobe is more in-depth and gives more data than MailChimp.

Pardot is within the Salesforce CRM, so solves many issues for us as far as our employees seeing direct results. Genius is more suited for the larger, enterprise company, whereas Genius is better for a smaller team. Both are extremely efficient, just target a different business size/purpose.
