Likelihood to Recommend

Adobe Campaign

The features and options available in Adobe Campaign are extensive. We use it to run our marketing campaigns across multiple types of devices. It covers all the bases from e-mail, mobile, or a direct mail sent to a prospect, we can do it all. It is a great tool for just keeping track of things, coming campaign elements and a history of what has occurred. Reporting could use some work and the amount of customization required is a bit steep.

Sitecore

Large scale websites that have large teams are very well suited to use Sitecore. It is especially good when the marketing team wants to provide a customized user experience based on previous user interactions. For example if it is October and I am shopping for tents also recommend warm sleeping bags. If I already have a sleeping bag in my shopping cart recommend a camp stove. All of this can be done without any outside ad targeting platform being integrated in your environment. This keeps your user's interactions on your site private for you alone.

Sitecore

  • Open and Scalable Content Management: At its root, the CMS capabilities offer complete customization while maintaining data integrity so that organizations can manage large amounts of content efficiently not just on the web presence but across email, social, mobile and print.
  • Experience Marketing: On top of the CMS foundation, organizations can optimize the experience of their customers through multivariate testing, personalization and engagement automation. This improved experience can also be quantified by the analytics concept of Engagement Value that is baked into all tracked interactions.
  • Application Integration: Sitecore enables organizations to create seamless user experiences across the entire enterprise by making it possible to tightly integrate other applications, whether they be ERP, CRM, E-commerce or any business-specific solutions.

Cons

Adobe Campaign

  • Package deployments. It requires administrator rights in order to deploy into an environment. We do not want changes directly in a production environment so deployments are a bottleneck since only a few have access.
  • User audits. It is difficult or impossible in certain cases to determine who started/executed/made changes to a workflow. There's no easy way to roll back changes.
  • Troubleshooting errors. For more complex workflows, when they do fail, it is not easy to figure out what caused the failure.

Sitecore

  • Sometimes slowdowns in the processing of transactions (links, running tasks, etc.) -- not always clear whether the fault here lies with the product versus network versus database activity, maybe some way to graphically represent that?
  • Logs should provide more detailed (what manual tasks were executed, and by who)
  • Availability of a site-map or equivalent resource to more easily navigate the administrative side

Likelihood to Renew

Once you go for Neolane you are a bit stuck with it, so we will most likely stay with Neolane. Cost of investment and training are the main factors at work here. We havesimply have invested too much in the product to stop using it after 2 years. That said, my score of 8 does not imply that the product is worthy of getting an 8 but reflects our willingness to renew.Given that upgrading to a new version will cost again a substantial sum, we most likely will keep using the current version we are on which is 6X.

Sitecore has proven that it can deliver on its promise of a robust, reliable enterprise CMS solution with plenty of features. Also, they keep updating it with more and better features. Now that we are highly trained on it we have started on getting the most out of it and we plan to keep doing more of that in the future.

I would say that generally the knowledge of the support team we work with is good, great even.I can't say that they seem to be very interested or involved in trying to make the product work best for us.They do what needs to be done, and they do it well - but not really going the extra mile.

Make sure you work with a partner that can help you take advantage of the entire platform. Specifically we see a lot of customers not taking advantage of Sitecore DMS and thus missing a huge opportunity. Sitecore is a platform that is meant to be constantly optimized and improved upon.
