Adobe Connect

If communicating with 30-90 agents in the virtual world, Adobe Connect definitely allows for the communication in a simplified environment. For example, f you have 30 agents taking calls, this program offers a way for agents to communicate. If questions are needed answered, the hosts have the ability to pose those questions and get answers from the group. In a smaller group, this may be a bit of overkill and may not be needed. Large groups of 75-100 would create and environment that is less appropriate as there are to many people asking questions and not receiving answers. This amount of people in one room may get lost in the confusion.

ConnectWise Control

Management of computers and server systems regardless of their locations. Ability to also keep those entities separated by groups allowing for a single instance to manage multiple enterprises. Not sure if I can think of a situation where ConnectWise Control wouldn’t be useful. If the position of your company involves remote management, ConnectWise Control is the solution.

Pros

  • Provides a recorded archive of meetings and training webinars. This fact is important as we need a record of the events and redistribute archived training.
  • Allows many participants to attend the Live Webinars or meetings without issue. As the number of participants is not the same each time, having the ability to invite as many as possible is a real plus.
  • Provides a log in the email with a link and connection information for people to join the meeting or webinar. This step is important as without it, people could not actually enjoy the benefits of the meeting or webinar.

  • Great value for an IT provider. The $35/month plan is a perfect fit.
  • Excellent for remote control and file transfer.
  • Very reliable.

Cons

  • Although it is a necessity to have the login email information shared with participants, we have had occasions when the link did not work properly or--more often--the Meeting ID did not allow the participant to enter the meeting room. As this is an issue that is only discovered at the meeting time (you cannot "try it" before the meeting time), it is problematic when it does not work.
  • Adobe Connect does not have the ability to SHARE SCREENS. There is one presenter who can put up documents for the participants to view, but there is no ability to change the Presenter so that multiple screens could be shared. In a roundtable discussion, it would be helpful if different people could share or trade control during the same meeting.
  • There is no ability to see the participants. Although I am sometimes in my lounge clothes when I attend an Adobe Connect meeting, face-to-face contact is helpful for engaging with an audience or for nonverbal communication. Although I think each participant should have control over the ability to use or not use video, I think it should be an option.

  • Globally set the Run Command Kill Time (timeout) to 3780000. I have a command that runs a timer for 63 minutes & wish to execute it remotely. It can be done it via More...>Run Command and 2 consecutive commands. But I wish to set the timeout globally.
  • I reported this issue and it was thrown back at me to fend for myself on the forum. Below is an example of non-service disguised as friendly service ("I'm at your service.").

  • Hello Michael.
  • Thank you for reaching out to ConnectWise Support. I will have the pleasure of helping you with this ticket.
  • Unfortunately there is no global timeout that you can set for Commands. However this is a great idea for an enhancement request that you can send to our enhancement forums to get it possibly looked at for a future release of Automate: connectwise.com/enhancements
  • Thank you,

  • Hi Michael and thank you for contacting ConnectWise Automate Support -
  • I just wanted to let you know that i was going over your inquiry regarding modifying the Global Timeout for commands.
  • Just as Mr. Felt already explained, Automate doesn't provide a way to change that but you can submit an enhancement request for that:
  • I hope this helps. If you need any additional assistance, please let me know. I'm at your service.
  • Have a great day and thank you for contacting ConnectWise Automate Support,

The longer you use Adobe Connect, the longer you are likely to use it. Because you can build more and more resources over time, creating rooms that you re-use, recorded content you can repurpose, and tools that form the basis of ever increasing productivity, the more you use Connect, the more productive you become. Unlike competing products where, with every meeting you essentially start over -- setting up your resources for each meeting -- in my Connect rooms, I have highly tuned tools to accomplish my knowledge transfer goals. When I want to conduct another session - I send a link out to the appropriate room and instantly we are all focusing on getting a job done together. This ability of Adobe Connect to make you productive at an ever quickening rate is a competitive advantage

This software was really the best choice for our company. We use it to remote to any and all workstations in what I call my farm. It is effortless, it lets the users know that we are connecting, it has an easy way to switch between screens, it is not overly complicated, and very stable. Very important for me was that the users could see what I was doing, and of course that is not the case with RDP. I highly recommend this software as an excellent way to support users. I use this in a job where I am supporting between 80 and 100 workstations.

Usability

As sophisticated a product as Adobe Connect, the ease of use is outstanding. In my experience, even a user with very little knowledge of Adobe Connect can begin using and even leading sessions with very little training to get started with the basic features. Additional training is needed to become comfortable with the number of available features, but learning curve even for those is no steeper than would normally be expected from similar software.

On the whole SC is a very powerful tool that is a vital part of the IT service arsenal. On-site visits are an "emergency" only type of scenario. Just "showing your face" is not winning any browny points for me. If my client sees my face, it's usually just to upgrade hardware or to deal other aspects of business. SC provides me and my client the bulk of the info I need to get projects done.

It performs well. It also has full control over windows security and does not get hung up like GoToMeeting when trying to install remote software at the prompt to install as admin / override. I have used TeamViewer, WebEx, LogMeIn and GoToMeeting. This is by far the best at spontaneous, remote control. It is also very easy to get a novice user connected to the session.

We use this solution for on-demand remote support and a few persistent workstation connections. The ability to maneuver on the remote system is very smooth, and other abilities such as file transfers and chats are easy to perform. Also, the ability to reconnect after reboot is necessary for us and works well

the one I attended didn't grab my attention the way I thought it would. Maybe because of the way I use the product; or because of how I am using an online instance, not a locally installed version. Some of the discussion got more technical and off the topic, it seemed.

Implementation

Adobe Connect7.9
Based on 4 answers
Prices do not seem to vary much among resellers of the Adobe Connect hosted license; the only price variation you're likely to find are among the audio providers. When implementing, you may also wish to look into expanding the amount of storage you are allowed on the server to avoid any problems later on as your library of files starts to build up

Alternatives Considered

We have used Nefsis conferencing software in the past. It served a purpose but wasn't nearly as robust in the features it offered, making it just an okay platform for training. For conferencing, it worked very well, but if you're looking to add tools that will contribute to the learning experience, Adobe will provide many more options.

I started with a couple of machines and added 150 in a one month. No issues. Able to create a separate group for each client and colleague. Set up roles in the user management area. Now setting up triggers for alerts does not scale so well. Fortunately it's not an issue with 250 machines and a handful of people. But if it were bigger, that would become an issue.

Return on Investment

  • Positive: Creation of Video Catalogue for existing customers.
  • Helps customer retention through nurturing and providing of content that is easily catalogued.
  • Positive: Links for sales & customer service.
  • Rooms and layouts can be styled and cloned easily. This saves time and ensures that content is always available once it has been created. Definitely helps to add to the bottom line through the professionalism.
  • Negative: Use of some PowerPoint presentations and LeadGen webinars.
  • Some presentations fail and partially load for no apparent reason. Has meant that some webinars weren't as fluid as we liked and time lost to figure out the issues.
  • Negative: API with Marketo.
  • The syncing of information between AdobeConnect and Marketo is not entirely reliable. Of 100 leads, about 40 will synced, where the last 60 will have to be manually checked and converted. This means that a CSV file is pulled from Adobe and also from Marketo, where every signup is then cross verified manually. Extremely time consuming.
  • Negative: Can't use KeyNotes.
  • Means that some presentations have to be converted to ensure usage. Animations are lost and other design elements.

  • The biggest positive impact is that it has allowed us to fix problems with remote computers in a much more efficient way
  • No negative impact
