Adobe Connect

If communicating with 30-90 agents in the virtual world, Adobe Connect definitely allows for the communication in a simplified environment. For example, f you have 30 agents taking calls, this program offers a way for agents to communicate. If questions are needed answered, the hosts have the ability to pose those questions and get answers from the group. In a smaller group, this may be a bit of overkill and may not be needed. Large groups of 75-100 would create and environment that is less appropriate as there are to many people asking questions and not receiving answers. This amount of people in one room may get lost in the confusion.

WebEx Event Center

WebEx is well suited for a no hassle way to do an online training or tutorial that requires users to learn about software or a website on the computer. WebEx is not really suited for a simple meeting that only requires voice (phone call). It is also not suited if participants need to share a mobile application from a mobile device.

Pros

  • Immediate communication within a secure environment between the host, or hosts, and attendees is a major benefit of Adobe Connect.
  • The ability to screen share is second to none and can be done immediately in the current session, or if the host pulls an attendee, or attendees, to a Break Out.
  • File sharing when those important files come through that require notification to a group as a whole is also something Adobe Connect does well.
  • Finally, the ability to post polls, create a white board for interaction with employees, and other items are just some of the benefits of Adobe Connect

  • Real-time - remote participants can provide real-time feedback via voice or chat
  • Interface - the interface is fairly simple and easy to understand for someone who has never used the platform before. The barrier to entry is relatively low.

Cons

  • The one major issue I have experienced with Adobe Connect is the lag or "boot" when there are too many people present. When attendees reached the maximum amount, I see a huge lag when moving to a Break Out, an unresponsive or frozen room, or one may get what we term "booted". This is very frustrating for employees when time is of the essence.Opening up the parameters a bit on attendees to prevent these issues would be greatly appreciated.
  • Color. Color. Color. Although you are in a working environment, color is appreciate, but limited when creating pods to discuss or post items. The background is very drab and has no "pop" to it. Employees may see items differently if the pods background was something other than gray.
  • Videos. Videos tend to have a lag as well when doing real-time face to face discussion. There seems to be a pixelation issue that has been occurring for years now when viewing videos.

As sophisticated a product as Adobe Connect, the ease of use is outstanding. In my experience, even a user with very little knowledge of Adobe Connect can begin using and even leading sessions with very little training to get started with the basic features. Additional training is needed to become comfortable with the number of available features, but learning curve even for those is no steeper than would normally be expected from similar software.

The ability to have most of the functionality of a full LMS at a fraction of the cost is huge. I can create manage and deploy both synchronous and asynchronous training based on the situation and all of my training is tracked through a series of easily created reports

Prices do not seem to vary much among resellers of the Adobe Connect hosted license; the only price variation you're likely to find are among the audio providers. When implementing, you may also wish to look into expanding the amount of storage you are allowed on the server to avoid any problems later on as your library of files starts to build up

BB Collaborate used to have a horrific UI, now that has improved but the functions aren't there yet.In demoing the tool and Blackboard World 2015 it seemed very unstable.

WebEx Event Center is much easier to use than Livemeeting. ON24 does not allow for 2-way audio with the audience. WebEx allows more productive training sessions because you can solicit feedback from your audience via a conference bridge. It allows for better attendee participation, which facilitates learning

  • General web conferencing is great for telecommuters. It's like a telephone call with the added value of screen sharing
  • WebEx produces reports of participants, alongside a log of the meeting and such. It likewise gives us a chance to send a thank you email afterwards. All things considered, it makes our life substantially less demanding.
