I think Captivate stacks up against Zoom well. In particular we chose Connect for its accessibility features. As an organization we need to make sure everything we produce/push-out is accessible.
We use Zoom for many meetings as it is supported by the university and can be easier to set up than Adobe. We still use Adobe as some folks are more comfortable with it.

We used Adobe Connect for about a year. The caliber of the recordings was lower than that of Zoom Video Webinar. Also, managing a space was more complicated than with Zoom. Granted, that was 6 years ago now that we stopped using it, but that was our experience at the time.
The combination of superior ease of use, relative affordability of a license, high participant volume, rich feature set, custom branding capabilities, excellent audio/video codecs, lean resource usage, and studio production features.
It is a great resource for evaluating, refining, and combining abilities and essential experiences in the growth of the sales team training; It is productive and lucrative in terms of distance knowledge transfer, and it reduces employee training financing and expenditures. I really like the ability to collaborate as a group on a huge research project even when we are not in the same country.
I've used Zoom Webinars for meetings and webinars from two people to 500 people. It has worked well and reliably in each scenario! I especially appreciate that viewers can turn on closed captions if they need them or can have the language translated. That makes this very helpful for our teammates that need that type of assistance.

Adaptable and feature rich--very easy to set up Webinars for different use cases with features like registration, Q&A, practice session, HQ video, branding and virtual backgrounds, polls/quizzes, post-surveys, breakouts, resources, production studio, FB/YT Live, captions/translation, etc
Aesthetically pleasing--new branding options (such as webinar wallpaper, custom backgrounds, and name tags), plus the recent addition of the Production Studio feature, means it's easier than ever to produce beautiful and appealing webinars.
Panelists, practice session, and backstage--Zoom makes it easy to set up webinar panelists ahead of time, and get them into the room early for a practice session. The new backstage option is even more powerful than the practice session feature.
The bleeding edge--Zoom is continually adding powerful new features for Webinar rooms, where other programs leave you with the same ol' stagnant feature set.
The overall connection and lag sometimes are disruptive. This may not be due to the platform as a whole, connectivity, and strength of the signal is probably a factor but it can get glitchy sometimes.
More features for remote desktop options, whiteboarding, or screen sharing to actively resolve issues would be great while collaborating.
Online support or forums to help assist with issues aren't as prevalent as you think they'd be. More individual resources to assist with issues would be helpful.
Like most Zoom products, Zoom Events is actively being improved and updated. The release cycle is monthly, which means event planners need to keep up with changes.
While Zoom Events also works for in-person only events, this will require a certain mind-set shift to work well for many organizations.
There is a core group of small business Zoom Events users who can provide help to new-comers, and an increasing number of helpful on-boarding resources, but Zoom Tier 1 support still starts out with the most pedantic questions; it's difficult to reach someone who can really help you with a difficult problem if you are not a large Zoom customer.
Professional Services is available from Zoom, but it the cost is out of reach of most small businesses and non-profit organizations.
The longer you use Adobe Connect, the longer you are likely to use it. Because you can build more and more resources over time, creating rooms that you re-use, recorded content you can repurpose, and tools that form the basis of ever increasing productivity, the more you use Connect, the more productive you become. Unlike competing products where, with every meeting you essentially start over -- setting up your resources for each meeting -- in my Connect rooms, I have highly tuned tools to accomplish my knowledge transfer goals. When I want to conduct another session - I send a link out to the appropriate room and instantly we are all focusing on getting a job done together. This ability of Adobe Connect to make you productive at an ever quickening rate is a competitive advantage
We will be renewing with Zoom as long as it continues to meet our needs for client and lead outreach needs in a robust manner. With little error and an easy to use interface, Zoom has met our needs and exceeded our expectations. The cost is right and with a short learning curve, Zoom has been an easy decision to make and maintain.
As sophisticated a product as Adobe Connect, the ease of use is outstanding. In my experience, even a user with very little knowledge of Adobe Connect can begin using and even leading sessions with very little training to get started with the basic features. Additional training is needed to become comfortable with the number of available features, but learning curve even for those is no steeper than would normally be expected from similar software.

They provide you with up-to-date information on all their latest changes and functions for ease [in] transition. The ability to have most of the functionality of a full LMS at a fraction of the cost is huge. I can create manage and deploy both synchronous and asynchronous training based on the situation and all of my training is tracked through a series of easily created reports
Prices do not seem to vary much among resellers of the Adobe Connect hosted license; the only price variation you're likely to find are among the audio providers. When implementing, you may also wish to look into expanding the amount of storage you are allowed on the server to avoid any problems later on as your library of files starts to build up
Actually, it was the other way around....we were using Adobe Connect, company-wide, then switched over to Zoom, mostly, I think, as a cost-cutting measure. But some Learning & Development folks campaigned to be allowed to retain some Adobe Connect licenses (for example, one L&D area had literally over 250 room layouts that their course facilitators could just jump into and use to deliver a course on short notice), which also allows some of us to continue to publish Presenter and Captivate modules to the Adobe server. (But, even those of us who still have Adobe Connect licenses use Zoom for most regular business meetings.)
Go To Webinar has been the standard in webinar technology for years. But it's a terrible experience from an administrator's perspective. You start the program, and 15 windows pop-up, giving you all sorts of configuration choices. In order to operate a webinar smoothly, we needed 4 members on the team (1 speaker, 1 moderator, 2 people managing any tech unknowns and set things up.) Zoom Webinar can be done with a single person because of how easy the options are. Also, put GoToWebinar in front of somebody new - and watch them fumble for 15 minutes trying to figure out how to present. Zoom, there's not much to explain. Everything is clearly laid out with a clean UX design.
Save on time - our instructors and people that use the platform can teach more classes and more often than in-person training and time traveling.
We cut down on spending. When we offer training using Connect - we do not have to spend on meals, hard copy materials, and reserving a venue to deliver training.
We increase our training sales significantly but offering Connect as an alternative - any unforeseen cancellations to a public class can result in transferring to a remote online Connected class.
I am a user of Zoom, not an administrator, so I can't speak to it's ROI outside of how it effectively allows me to conduct presentations with groups of people I wouldn't normally have in the same room.
Zoom has a very positive impact on keeping me connected with my colleagues in a more human way through the use of video and audio when we are conducting meetings. This helps strengthen work relationships so there are less misunderstandings from email or text only systems.
Zoom has allowed my company with remote employees all over the place, in addition to multiple physical office locations, conduct quarterly meetings with our CEO that make everyone feel involved.
