Adobe Marketing Cloud

If you have a sizable budget and the ability to oversee both marketing and web development teams, Adobe might be right for you. If you only oversee marketers, you will not be able to get the full value out of the tool. Plus, if it's out of your price range or at the very top, you won't be able to do some of the custom set up that might be needed.

Pros

  • While most web analytics tools rely on aggregate navigation data, Adobe Marketing Cloud allows analysis up to the individual user-level—an essential feature for companies doing digital marketing for B2B.
  • Flexibility defining custom variables. You can customize the tool to fit your business' needs.
  • Allows integration with 3rd party tools such as CRM and sales software.

  • Create and manage a detailed plan for a marketing campaign: when you create detailed project plans and then task and role levels, SAS Marketing Operations Management (SAS MOM) makes it easier to coordinate between projects with very little, if any, issues.
  • Share, reuse and leverage existing marketing assets: Like some marketing tools, SAS MOM allows you to create and reuse assets across various channels.
  • Manage project collaboration and execution: You are allowed to set up a workflow that helps move processes along without having to manage each step of the project.

Cons

  • Adobe Marketing Cloud is fairly expensive compared to some of the other tools out there. While it does provide an excellent tool for the price, it can be a little daunting to some.
  • The learning curve with Adobe Marketing Cloud is fairly steep. When we bring on new employees that will work directly with the tool, it can take weeks until they are up to speed.
  • Like it mentioned before, the initial implementation was a fairly lengthy and complicated process. Staying on top of new campaigns does require quite a bit of knowledge of the tool and our process in order to be properly launched.

  • It would be good to have a Storyboard feature to summarize and tie together some of the dashboard metrics.
  • Missing feature: Hubspot CRM integration.

Although a powerful tool, Google Analytics has been catching up in capabilities and is much simpler to use.As analytics move to the spotlight, more sections in a company want to have access to it. However, creating straightforward reports/dashboards and sharing them with different groups is not a strength of Adobe Marketing Cloud.

Alternatives Considered

If you are an enterprise, there is simply no comparison. The sampling in Google Analytics will lead you astray. The lack of pathing will leave you unaware of how people navigate. You will essentially be making all of your decisions based on bad data. There's a stunning lack of customization. My internal stakeholders saw the difference immediately. Rather than trying to make guesses and inferences, I was able to provide hard data and back it up with many more pieces of data that backed my conclusion. The insights we gained from the first month of tracking were of greater value than the prior year of Google Analytics. I identified key areas of improvement that are now driving our content strategy.

The collaboration of SAS MOM across various channels has been outstanding for those who effectively use the tool. Its a great solution that answers many of the questions one would have if it weren't in place

SAS first and foremost is a company that relates to all things data and making sure data connectivity is key. SAS MOM data connectivity to our enterprise data warehouse was seamless

Return on Investment

  • The conversion rate on our targeted emails has risen since we started with Adobe Marketing Cloud.
  • Initially, the ROI was low as the implementation costs were high from a dollar perspective as well as a man hour cost from our end.
  • We are able to directly see how each campaign performs and how we can tweak them based on the data provided by Adobe Marketing Cloud.
