Adobe Media Optimizer

I think it is good to keep in mind the type of business application you have in mind when selecting Media Optimizer for your company. For us, as an agency, it makes sense for us to utilize the reporting and paid search optimizing portions for our clients as we manage over 300+ clients PPC campaigns. With this tool it is possible to set up campaigns easily and as long as the parameters are set correctly within the portfolio, there is a great opportunity for the tool to do its job and use the simulation/modeling process to run and grow a paid search campaign with ease of human interaction.

Base CRM

I think that for a company that creates any sales and needs to house their client information, the Base is perfect. The price of the program makes it completely worth the investment. And to be able to use customizations makes it possible for any business that does sales use Base for their orders.I would say for companies that use legal contracts or binding contracts for their business, Base may be too simple for their needs. We work in tandem with a company that always has contracts going back and forth, and the build out of the customizations here weren't really going to work for them.

Pros

  • Clear view of marketing campaigns performance across multiple channels.
No photo available
  • My favorite piece is the Tasks connected to the Clients OR the Deals themselves that keep the process moving with the right steps, and helps our team from doubling our work, or missing a piece that is crucial for the completion of the sale.
  • The email integration helps to keep all things housed in one place also, so that you're not bouncing back and forth in multiple platforms to stay on top of the orders.
  • Customizations are a HUGE part of why we use Base CRM right now. We can make sure we are recording all of the right information, and not wasting time by having to fill in or skip over content that doesn't apply to our business model.
  • I also like the ability to tied Deals to multiple people, especially as Referrals come across, so we don't forget how we got in touch with different clients.

Cons

  • Initial code implementation can be difficult, depending on the size and style of the website you are trying to implement it on. Use of the new Adobe Dynamic Tag Manager can make this project significantly easier.
  • We experienced difficulty initially when we were hard coding the javascript onto the site while others were making website changes and this sometimes resulted in data inaccuracies.
  • The process from inception to actually getting your website actually up and running with the optimizer engine can be lengthy, especially when doing several sites concurrently. For smaller applications I can see this taking a much shorter time frame, but can be quite time consuming for multiple websites.

  • I mentioned the email integration, but this can be 10 minutes or more behind real time, which discourages our team from actually using it all the time. If it was quicker in the download of our emails, we would not feel behind or miss any deadlines.
  • I'd love to see other programs like FRESHBOOKS or other payment platforms able to be integrated well, so that we can truly do everything out of Base. Maybe even the ability to create invoices, and receive payments, through Base as well. That would be great!
  • It would be great for the Mobile App to be more user-friendly. It is good, but doesn't WOW our team, so we don't use it very much, which keeps us more locked down to our laptops.

It has performed well above our expectations and has given us the time we'd be better off spending on building new strategies and customer development, over manual PPC campaign management. The ROI far exceeds what we could have promised on our own with many clients and we wouldn't want to give up that kind of almost guaranteed ROI for our clients.

Usability

It definitely takes some instruction to get to be able to use the system. One would struggle trying to get it to work without any previous experience with it. If you are famailiar with the interface it is actually quite fast and easy to maneuver around.

This product has a great backing of users, but needs more options direct from Base CRM on all operations of the software. YouTube videos do a great job of helping implement, and the back end support is a great help as well. The CRM is a great free option, and should be treated as such.

Alternatives Considered

We have only gone with the Adobe Media Optimizer, as it seemed the most appropriate tool for what we wanted to use it for and offered an optimization tool as well as a reporting platform that others didn't. We took into account the abilities of Marin software and Navis, but none could offer the benefits that AMO could
Jay Corcoran profile photo
Much more efficient and cleaner interface allows quicker and simpler contact/pipeline management for all members of staff regardless of seniority.Additionally, it's a much simpler platform designed for sales compared to more traditional CRMs.Finally, the support has been, unparalleled. They really care about their customers and ensure that they are using the platform to the best of their ability.

Return on Investment

  • We have seen 12:1 ROI in some clients within the first 3 weeks of being up and live on the service. This is where you can go in and adjust portfolio objectives and make changes accordingly.
  • It has freed up a lot of time that we had previously spent manually monitoring and managing individual paid search accounts. While a lot of that time is still spent with the accounts, it is spent in AMO, checking and adjusting portfolio goals and weighting objectives to achieve maximum benefit.
  • It is important to make sure to allow AMO to take time to learn, and make sure that it is receiving enough information to learn and make decisions properly. We've found that slower moving PPC account that don't receive tons of traffic often need to utilize secondary objectives in their portfolios to "feed" the system enough info to learn and act.

  • Knowledge: having the ability to manipulate the data of previous sales, client industries, and custom tags, mean that you can literally drill down to any level of information currently assigned in the system. This is an invaluable tool.
  • Mobility: Being able to track deals, adjust the pipeline, and add and search client information from a anywhere makes it easy to do business from a mobile device or anywhere with wifi.
  • Growth: New features are continually being added to Base. With each new roll out, the system becomes more robust, the experience easier and more intuitive, and the ability to track and manipulate data easier.
