Adobe Media Optimizer

I think it is good to keep in mind the type of business application you have in mind when selecting Media Optimizer for your company. For us, as an agency, it makes sense for us to utilize the reporting and paid search optimizing portions for our clients as we manage over 300+ clients PPC campaigns. With this tool it is possible to set up campaigns easily and as long as the parameters are set correctly within the portfolio, there is a great opportunity for the tool to do its job and use the simulation/modeling process to run and grow a paid search campaign with ease of human interaction.

Facebook for Business

I think it is essential that every small and large business have a Facebook page. Although Facebook is more suited for businesses that cater to lifestyle, beauty, fashion, hobbies, etc., it can still be used by larger companies that provide industry knowledge and services. The most essential part of using Facebook as a business is remaining consistent in your message, branding, and posting. If a company cannot do that, then Facebook certainly isn't going to do the work for you.

Cons

  • The product is expensive.
  • The product sometimes has issues recognizing our users and remembering their profile information.
  • The product can be challenging when gathering specific reports.

  • This isn't technically an issue with the software, but I have certainly experienced ethical qualms regarding user privacy. I don't love the thought of exploiting millions of users' personal information to sell a product.
  • Several little-used, deprecated, or de-facto deprecated ad formats show up in the previewer for a given ad--makes the tool feel outdated and unpolished.
  • There's a bit of a learning curve with the unintuitive navigation of Campaign > Ad Set > Ad. A better tutorial would help the user hit the ground running instead of clicking through each section trying to work out the differences of each.

It has performed well above our expectations and has given us the time we'd be better off spending on building new strategies and customer development, over manual PPC campaign management. The ROI far exceeds what we could have promised on our own with many clients and we wouldn't want to give up that kind of almost guaranteed ROI for our clients.

We have to continue using this tool in order to be effective on this marketing platform. Though there are several changes I wish we could see, the fact is that we will still need to use this product to provide customers with the information they need.

Usability

It definitely takes some instruction to get to be able to use the system. One would struggle trying to get it to work without any previous experience with it. If you are famailiar with the interface it is actually quite fast and easy to maneuver around.

I find it very cumbersome to use. It is a clunky system and often times very buggy. The customer support, though helpful, is very slow to resolve issues.

It was difficult initially, but the implementation of the Dynamic Tag Manager was a big help and timesaver.

Take all of the training offered through Facebook first before attempting to create a page on the platform. Learn all of the capabilities available to you. Learn about the different types of audiences who might be interested in seeing your page. Create short video clips as though they are viewed at a much higher rate than anything else. Offer free giveaways or raffles to further build to your list of prospects and drive traffic to your website

Alternatives Considered

We have only gone with the Adobe Media Optimizer, as it seemed the most appropriate tool for what we wanted to use it for and offered an optimization tool as well as a reporting platform that others didn't. We took into account the abilities of Marin software and Navis, but none could offer the benefits that AMO could

Facebook for business stacks up against them because it has the furthest reaching arms that include people from every walk of life, and every generation of people. It has the ability to gain the most attraction the fastest. The capabilities of the data analytics is truly remarkable. And the varying options for pricing on publishing ads can be customized to work virtually any budget. Also, it has the most extensive training videos that make it easy to learn how to use the site to the fullest capabilities.

Return on Investment

  • Increase in the margins of spending and profit.
  • Allows us to make decisions based on statistics and percentages given by the simulations and not in simple intuitions or advice from third parties.

  • Since Facebook for Business is free, any positive impact is an ROI. It doesn't take much time to learn how it works and there are plenty of help articles and tutorials. I would say it is well worth using.
  • Facebook for Business has helped me to run and manage marketing campaigns on multiple Facebook pages with ease.
  • Facebook for Business allows for multiple user management for Ad Accounts and Page admins.
