I think it is good to keep in mind the type of business application you have in mind when selecting Media Optimizer for your company. For us, as an agency, it makes sense for us to utilize the reporting and paid search optimizing portions for our clients as we manage over 300+ clients PPC campaigns. With this tool it is possible to set up campaigns easily and as long as the parameters are set correctly within the portfolio, there is a great opportunity for the tool to do its job and use the simulation/modeling process to run and grow a paid search campaign with ease of human interaction.

The pricing model of MediaMath with respect to agencies should be a little different, since you have to consider that agencies have various sets of clients with different needs. Not all agency clients have equal budgets to spend. So the platform fee should not be flat rather there should be a formula with respect to spend level and use for each client at agency level.

  • It allows us to make personalized simulations based on number of clicks, impressions and expenses.
  • It has a great technical support that answers all the doubts quickly and clearly.

  • It is easy to integrate with display servers, data providers, and also other partners which make campaigns really efficient and optimize your CPA goals. MediaMath also provides you training via New Marketing Institue which is very helpful.
  • It also keeps on innovation with respect to partnerships and on boarding tools such as display collision detection tools. It was exciting to see that how easy it is to work closely with accounts team and they have amazing hands on working on these tools.

  • High price. Although it is very functional and you can improve profit margins the product itself is expensive.
  • It is complicated to use. You need a lot of time and dedication to learn how to use it.

  • MediaMath was pricy for what it is.
  • MediaMath is only one part of the tool - You still need an ad server, such as Mediaplex, to serve the ads on.
  • There are bigger players in the game now, such as Conversant, ValueClick, DoubleClick, etc that have a larger reach.

It has performed well above our expectations and has given us the time we'd be better off spending on building new strategies and customer development, over manual PPC campaign management. The ROI far exceeds what we could have promised on our own with many clients and we wouldn't want to give up that kind of almost guaranteed ROI for our clients.

I am very much familiar to this product and it has greater advantage to use if the price is right to adopt at an agency level and work with multiple clients. I don't have to shuffle and negotiate with multiple publishers

It definitely takes some instruction to get to be able to use the system. One would struggle trying to get it to work without any previous experience with it. If you are famailiar with the interface it is actually quite fast and easy to maneuver around.

Alternatives Considered

We have only gone with the Adobe Media Optimizer, as it seemed the most appropriate tool for what we wanted to use it for and offered an optimization tool as well as a reporting platform that others didn't. We took into account the abilities of Marin software and Navis, but none could offer the benefits that AMO could

  • Yes, it increases employee efficiency tremendously. Rather going for managed and direct media placements, it gives me an easy access to data and publishers at a wide scale.
  • Its reporting tool is very robust, especially the site transparency platform.
  • Their response time on account troubleshooting is amazing. The way they provide feedback on campaigns and optimization is terrific.
