Best for Salesforce integration for sales order confirmations, and NDAs with new potential business partners.Less appropriate in countries where digital signing is not yet the norm.

Legalesign

Legalesign is well-suited for sending out documents to be signed, especially if multiple signatures are needed. Our sales team has had a lot of success utilizing Legalesign when sending contracts to potential clients. Additionally, it's a great option for organizations wanting to send out official offer letters to be signed. Legalesign is not well suited if you're looking for a long-term storage system for documents. I would recommend downloading your documents once they're signed and storing them within a secure system of your own.

Pros

  • EchoSign handles the ability to manage signatures and the overall signing process very well.
  • EchoSign handles the ability to add smart tags to all types of documents for easy generation and usage
  • EchoSign document management is both searchable and easy to use
  • Integrates well with multiple systems, including Salesforce.com

  • Legalesign is very easy to use - uploading documents is simple. You just click where you want the signature box to go and can add the signer's information. Adding multiple signatures is also quite easy.
  • Once documents are sent, you receive live updates when the recipient opens docs, reviews, signs, etc. This is helpful when they are time sensitive.
  • Documents are stored within the system and can be accessed/downloaded at a later time.
  • I appreciate the simplicity of the design - it's not overly flashy, like other platforms.

Cons

  • User management needs work; for adding users it is fine however to edit users or remove them, it is lacking. Cannot send mass emails to users or get any kind of user history such when/who created/de-activated.

  • Archives - after a certain amount of time, documents are archived. It's difficult to determine when this happens. If you need to access an archived item, Legalesign says it will take 'several hours' to retrieve the document. I've waited up to 12 hours for a document to be pulled. This is inconveniently and a bit odd.
  • The dashboard can be confusing - there is a timeline with your 'recent' documents, but I've never been able to determine how it shows documents. They're always out of order and some new, some old. It can be confusing.
  • Overall, I've had issues with the internal timeline of this software. There are dropdown menus for choosing the dates of the documents you want to see (7 days, 30 days, last month, etc.), but I'm often missing documents and have to perform several searches for them. Other members of the team have had this issue, as well.
  • Like the archive issue mentioned previously, there have been times when the platform has moved very slowly. Documents will often take time to load, even if they're just a 2-page Word document. This does not appear to be a connectivity issue.
  • The dashboard itself can just be a bit confusing. There is a lot of information available, but the algorithm that determines what is displayed is strange, and it's hard to determine what you're seeing/why you're seeing it. There are settings you can play with, which has been helpful.
  • Although it hasn't happened often, I have had candidates/new employees not recognize an email coming via Legalesign. Document emails look a bit like spam, so I've had candidates ignore them. As far as I know, these are not customizable. I ensure recipients know the email is coming.

This would be a 9 or 10 except towards the end of 2012, there were several outages, one that was significant. EchoSign has taken steps to rectify this but they really should have handled both the outage and the subsequent communication better

Usability

Adobe Sign9.2
Based on 8 answers
EchoSign is extremely easy to use through the entire signature cycle, from sending to signing to administration with a very guided approach. The only way this could be more usable is if it auto-detected the fields but you can get there for the end users by using smart tags in just one extra admin step

Online Training

Adobe Sign8.0
Based on 1 answer
The best types of training are well integrated into the product and Echosign does this well. As mentioned earlier in my review - there are some areas of functionality that can be difficult to understand ("only I sign") for the novice user.Other areas such as macro usage, bulk signature and so on were easily learned and understood via the online tools.

Implementation

Adobe Sign8.0
Based on 5 answers
It's very important to identify areas that will expose as many users as possible to your e-signature platform. Even if your goal is to automate the more common areas such as sales... take the opportunity to utilize the functionality across your entire contract and agreement spectrum... you will maximize your ROI and often identify new areas of opportunity to leverage the platform.

Alternatives Considered

They are about as good, but Adobe Sign comes with the Adobe Suite, which I use as a Web Designer/ Developer, as a result, I don't have to get yet another solution, and the Adobe Suite becomes a whole lot more valuable.

Legalesign is our preferred method of signing/sending documents. It's easy to use and saves a lot of headaches when it comes to getting signatures on contracts/offer letters/documents. Additionally, we've found it to be cheaper than other similar platforms, even for multiple licenses. There are certainly areas for improvement (archive efficiency, dashboard set up, etc.), but we do not foresee our organization moving away from Legalesign any time soon

Return on Investment

  • Time - is the biggest gain no longer have to wait days for someone to sign and return documents.
  • Accuracy - It's easy to miss a spot that needs to be signed in a stack of papers.

  • Legalesign has had a positive impact on our ability to sign new employees. It's fast and easy - which is essential when hiring top talent.
  • The only negative impact would be the slow pace we've experienced when trying to pull previous documents. However, we do not use this platform as our only storage option, so this issue does not arise often.
  • Legalesign allows for the seamless transfer of information with prospects, which has a large impact on our ROI. Having a system like this makes getting signatures from new clients quick - essentially for a busy sales team!
