To try out each of the different types of e-signing software out there and to go through the process themselves. It is important to look at the process through the client's point of view. Depending on your client base, if a particular software is difficult or confusing for you (as the one overseeing the process) then chances are it is even more confusing for those you are sending it to

SignRequest

  • Well suited for smaller organizations that need a cost-effective way to manage electronic signatures. Not appropriate for organizations that need to send out a large amount of documents.
  • Not well suited for completion of complex/long-response documents because of the UI. Best for documents that require a simple entry, like a sign and date field only.

Pros

  • The product is simple to use but has the depth to cover a large variety of requirements.
  • It has greatly improved our client retention rate.
  • It has Improved our turnaround time for cases.
  • It is consistent and reliable, having used the system over the past 2 years, it is rare that we find it is unavailable for use.
  • It gives us and our client's options, rather than having to rely on the postal services to get our agreements signed.

  • Easy to upload and rename documents
  • Really easy to mark where documents should be signed
  • Easy to monitor the progress of the documents
  • Lets you know via email when the documents are signed

Cons

  • I would like to see some development to the building of forms, we recently found it quite difficult designing a form using the Echosign coding in word because the size of the field is reliant on the number of characters in the field name. Perhaps this could be altered so we could just type in the number to represent the size of the field.
  • I would like to be able to validate a form as it is being completed, depending on responses provided by a client. Essentially an interactive form.
  • The agreement quite commonly finds it's way into a clients junk email.

  • Despite contractors signing the agreements, the system continued to send the same agreement over and over without prompting it
  • One contractor didn't receive all of the documents and I had to resend them twice
  • I had to kind of click around to figure it out because there's not much of a walk-through on how to use it. Once you figure it out, it's really easy
  • Support is lacking. I emailed to ask about why the system kept sending out the same contract over and over after it was signed and I never received a response to that

The effectiveness of an individual link for every deal we market has provided us with the ease and efficiency of improved quality control and client satisfaction. Although there are items we would like to see worked on, such as multi-signing, multi-recipients, and maintenance, we are extremely satisfied with the quality and service Echosign has provided to us. Gold star!

Usability

Adobe Sign9.2
Based on 8 answers
EchoSign is extremely easy to use through the entire signature cycle, from sending to signing to administration with a very guided approach. The only way this could be more usable is if it auto-detected the fields but you can get there for the end users by using smart tags in just one extra admin step

I would have rated this a 9 or greater had they not had had such critical outages. They have taken steps to resolve this so I may come in and revise this

I haven't had to ask for support more then a handful of times and each time I do interact with the support team I have felt important. They get back to me quickly and I am able to get them answers/help I was seeking

Online Training

Adobe Sign8.0
Based on 1 answer
The best types of training are well integrated into the product and Echosign does this well. As mentioned earlier in my review - there are some areas of functionality that can be difficult to understand ("only I sign") for the novice user.Other areas such as macro usage, bulk signature and so on were easily learned and understood via the online tools.

Implementation

Adobe Sign8.0
Based on 5 answers
Our IT team implemented and the implementation was fine. The only lesson learned is that the integration with Salesforce.com is great, but if you use the product for something other than sales orders (e.g. timesheets, client correspondence etc.), you need to plan with that in mind. They have a very good web based interface for that

Alternatives Considered

None, actually. We didn't evaluate other options because we've been very happy with Adobe Sign and it was included in our Adobe package.

SignRequest is actually easier to use than SigningHub. It's much easier to just go to wherever you need a signature in the document and add the field. It's also got a cleaner interface, in my opinion, which makes it easier to figure out what's going on. I think that for someone new to digital contract management, SignRequest is a better choice. You do have to do some clicking around to figure it out, but it's still much easier to navigate than SigningHub (for new users)

Return on Investment

  • Ease of use has been great for us to get customers to sign documents, and it has helped us grow in that area

  • SignRequest has allowed me to speed up my new client onboarding process, saving me time and effort as well as making things quick, easy, and very professional for my clients.
  • SignRequest (paired with an automation tool) has allowed me to spend less time sending agreements for signature, and more time on other areas of my business.
