Adobe Social is not well suited to any type of social publishing, reporting or listening, particularly on a large scale within a major enterprise. It can, on occasion, completely fail to do what is asked of it. Customer support is slow and representatives often don't even read the ticket properly and ask questions answered by the ticket.

Sysomos Heartbeat is well suited to situations where there is a well defined need for monitoring. Specific campaign, industry, program. We set out to solve a problem of a lack of general visibility of online conversation, and found that marketers liked knowing that the data was available but didn't know what to do with it. Need really specific use-cases in mind.

  • Integration with Site Catalyst could be of benefit as long as a subject matter expert in both platforms provides guidance
  • Some of the terms reporting can be useful at times to determine overall reach of a campaign across platforms
  • Recent update to newest version did bring some noticable improvements.

  • Accessible and user-friendly interface. Simple, colorful and easy on the eye. Minimal training required to get to grips with the basics.
  • Quick and easy to read "at a glance" dashboard reporting, eg share of voice, according to pre-configured queries.
  • Easy to drill-down into reporting and understand the specific mentions that contributed to a particular spike, or period of negative sentiment.

  • Content calendar layout is hard to follow along with
  • Shared logins don't load data consistently into each dashboard
  • Can't mass delete comments from your social page

  • The partnership between Sysomos Heartbeat and close-relative Sysomos MAP is still confusing. Different set up and process for queries makes moving between the two jarring. They're awkwardly integrated.
  • Exported reports have flaws and, though the data is always sound, sometimes charts do not render correctly.
  • Some rare and short-term but annoying stability issues. Small periods of downtime can be disruptive. Very occasional though.

It is a pretty easy product to pick up and run with. Though the queries and tags you use to monitor can be tricky at times and require you to think your ultimate goal of what you want to achieve

This has not been an issue. It is actually beating TweetDeck when we are tagged within a post that TweetDeck is monitoring.

The Adobe support team is really helpful. We have recently gone through a number of account reps since our favorite rep was promoted off of our account, so we are hoping for better service in our newest rep.

Training was long and a little confusing. While a number of features carried over, they were still covered in this elongated training. It would have been nice to have training tailored to experience level with the product.

Implementation

The implementation was done during our POC. We had a very mixed experience here, and have had some issues arise since based on the way the tool was implemented. An Adobe employee went ahead and made a change to our account that was unauthorized (helpful for our implementation) which caused issues in on boarding another team who needed the same change, but could not get it done without costly Adobe certification

Alternatives Considered

I didnt have the option to select it for this client. They came to us with this tool. I believe it's quality and has a lot to offer in terms of really driving Social ROI with an integration with bitly

Heartbeat is comparitavely user-friendly, which is helpful in a distributed environment where training is costly. It is very focused on listening, and though they have recently introduced and developed publishing features this not the product's core value proposition, and the model of priving by Heartbeat queries isn't a great match for that purpose. Other tools are better for managing multiple accounts and publishing, but Sysomos represents value and power for listening.

  • Adobe Social allows us to insert our clients into online conversations related to their brand.

  • Gives us considerable visibility of the online market place that we lacked before. Like turning on a light and seeing clearly for the first time.
  • Reduced the need to rely on third-party agencies for marketing data and share of voice analysis.
  • Still expensive for the value we're getting. The fault is not with the tool - we have found users not tapping the value due to lack of time or training.
