Adobe Spark

Spark is a great tool for quickly building up templates and designs. Especially suited for social media assets. It is very quick to learn and get going, with some great inspirational templates. So for a quick work flow and creating good designs, it's a great addition to other programs you may use. If you are just looking for quick and basic videos this is the answer, but if you would like a bit more depth to your editing and features, this would not be the best answer. Overall you can achieve some amazing end results, especially for your social channels.

I can only say that it did everything that we needed it to. If we were in another business and had other needs, perhaps we would find a scenario in which it would not work? But we did not need anything complicated, just professional looking educational material for our patients.

Pros

Adobe Spark

  • Templates: Once you select the template, just edit it according to need, which makes it a huge time-saver.
  • Intuitive design: In case you don't want or can't find a template that you like, you can freely design in Adobe Spark. The software focuses on very straightforward functionality, with custom fields and alignments of buttons with very clear labels. The whole design is quite intuitive and guides users from one step to another without the need for many instructions.
  • Autosave: It may seem unimportant, but the fact that Adobe Spark saves all the changes you make automatically and constantly frees you from any worry.
  • Includes free high-resolution images from Unsplash, as well as prepaid high-quality stock photos from Adobe Stock.
  • No skills needed: It is incredibly easy to use in that you don't need prior knowledge.
  • Content and print management offered.

Cons

Adobe Spark

  • There are limits to how/where you can place the text.
  • The stock music selection is limited - I'm running out of choices.
  • It's meant for short videos - nothing too long.
  • The default on each slide in a video is two seconds - remember to increase the tie if you want to hold viewers for longer.

  • It doesn't have similar layout as other Microsoft applications such as Word and PowerPoint.
  • A little expensive compared to publishing software.

I feel Microsoft Publisher does exactly what it’s name implies, it turns you lists and info is into PDF or other versions. You can develop and email list.

Alternatives Considered

Adobe Spark

We use Adobe Spark in addition to all of the above, depending on the project. It stacks up extremely well against all other products, except Premiere Pro on the video side (obviously). In the area that we use it most - for the on the fly social media - it is our go-to choice. Being able to edit on mobile and export straight away is a game changer for us.

Not sure [why] it has a different name, but I briefly tried to create on my MacBook at home and used its version of Microsoft Word and was able to do similar things as in Publisher.
