Namely might be too expensive and unnecessary for new or very small companies. Companies that are looking to grow quickly, however, will get great use from Namely. It helps keep everything organized and in one place. The Namely team really helps users to keep up with ever-changing federal and state compliance laws. They will handle a lot of payroll challenges and assist with taxes as well.

  • Ability to clock hours without a physical time clock/punchcard -- great for jobs like tutoring, which may not have a central meeting location
  • Ability to clock hours for multiple positions in different departments across an organization -- one paycheck, even though I had multiple supervisors and different pay rates

  • Every person I've worked with in Namely is competent, friendly, quick, patient, and very helpful. I've never before worked with any company like this. Their customer service, professionalism, and forward thinking blow me away.
  • Namely is quick to listen to client feedback and solve problems. They're constantly adding new features, so even if it doesn't have everything you want now, there is a good chance it will.
  • Namely's platform is very user-friendly. It's easy to navigate and learn how to use. For many users, it's self-explanatory. They provide great training tools as well.
  • Namely Payroll is easy to use and provides a large variety of reports that you can access immediately. It's easy to update employee and company tax information.

Cons

  • Browser compatibility - would be much more convenient if I could use eTime on the browser of my choice, rather than having to download a compatible browser that I won't use for anything else
  • User interface - Not very visually pleasing, hard to navigate, not intuitive.
  • Complicated/Lots of bureaucracy - difficult to address problems (with historical hours or incorrect pay rates) because the software was too complicated and inconvenient for my immediate supervisors to learn, so all issues for the entire college had to be directed through one individual in the administration. Also, while the ability to log hours for multiple positions on one timecard is convenient in some ways, it also makes these problems more difficult to sort out because it is difficult to retroactively identify which hours were logged for which positions (from a paper ADP pay stub, for example)

  • Namely time off could be more interactive with payroll, but I think Namely is working on this improvement currently.

In some ways, the flexibility of eTime makes it much more usable than some time card systems. I can log my own hours at my convenience (as long as it is during the pay period), and eTime sends me a reminder email 24 hours before the cut-off for each pay period. I can log hours for multiple positions using particular pay codes, although there is no way for me to save frequently used or "my" pay codes -- adding this feature would be a much-appreciated improvement to eTime's usability. Juggling multiple pay codes within the current system, however, is cumbersome. There can also be problems if an incorrect or overlapping hour is accidentally entered and saved -- certain fields turn red and are difficult to adjust, often requiring the help of a software administrator. Correcting other errors and entering historical hours is extremely difficult, and the software does not work well on some browsers (and it is unattractive when I have been able to get it to work)

Overall, Namely is a very user friendly platform, most of the functionality can be learned with out much training or guidance. They have designed it to be modeled similar to other social media sites interface which makes it clean in design and easy to navigate. If you do have someone at your organization that is less tech savvy, one of the most impressive parts of Namely continues to be their client support. They will support you and give guidance in every aspect if its training or just pointing out a feature and how it works

Namely is much more user-friendly and even employee friendly as the interface is so easy to navigate and clear to change and use daily. I would definitely recommend to other companies looking for a fully combined software for all functions.

  • Compared to our last HRIS, Namely gains far more users internally because of the user interface.
  • We continue to review external review software that provide micro feedback, employee-generated reviews, and compilation of review data in a readable and presentable format while we use Namely's. Namely's performance review is useful, it just doesn't meet all our needs today.
  • The reimbursement portion of Namely's payroll is valuable to us, so we don't have to cut separate expense checks. We pay bi-weekly and the payroll requires about 30 minutes of work every two weeks for our 75 employees to verify PTO and salary updates, as those don't feed from Namely HR. Not bad, but it seems like it should be higher on the priority list of future releases.
  • The initial implementation of Namely was really easy, compared to the four other implementations I've been through. The support team was available whenever we needed to ensure accuracy.
