ADP ezLaborManager

[ADP is well suited for] Smaller agencies with a regular payroll and not a complex payroll. Users must be familiar with databases, reporting, etc. as system is not as user friendly as we would like. The cost is also a factor especially as the basic system does not include other features such as performance management, dashboards, etc. I was hoping to have access to the dashboards. Reporting should also provide more sample reports

Small businesses are a good fit for using Boomr. It allows users to access the digital platform in a way that is accessible and user-friendly. I have found it to be a wonderful addition to our company in allowing staff to stay accountable and connected.

Pros

  • The interface of ADP ezLaborManager is simple to use, training only takes a couple of minutes for employees and a couple more for managers.
  • Time off requests are simple to add to the system, review, and approve or deny. There is a space for comments so that managers and employees can communicate directly on the time off request.
  • The employee and supervisor approval process confirms that the employees and managers agree on hours work to satisfy in errors in time before processing payroll.
  • Importing ADP ezLaborManager to RUN Powered by ADP only takes a couple minutes allowing you to get started on processing your payroll in a fraction of the time compared to manual time cards.

  • Boomr allows for two check in types. One check in from a mobile device, or a check in from your company's stationary device. The mobile device check in, is particularly helpful to those who need to track check in for employees who work away from management. It won't allow the employee to check in for work until they are within a specified distance of the assigned address. This ensures that employees are only running the clock if they're actually physically at work.
  • Boomr allows for a very accurate reading of time logs. Between checking in, taking a break and checking out, Boomr makes a very precise calculation for the check size required when paying employees. Because it's so precise, Boomr is effectively allowing companies to manage their payroll to the second, which (with enough employees) could make a difference of thousands of dollars once payroll comes around.

Cons

  • The Time off Requests feature is limited, if an employee requests time in April for July, and in June the employee reports to someone new the system does not update the request to the new manager, it is still sent to old manager.
  • In the 2.0 Work Force Now, ezLaborManager allowed you to add a note to the day but in the 10.0 version you may only add a note to the time sheet not the day.
  • Reports cannot be customized to incorporate data from other areas such as payroll and HR.

  • Boomr currently makes it a little difficult for the employee to track time spent on the job. Boomr currently has a feature that will allow you to see your time log on a particular day and see what that translates into dollar wise, however, being able to indicate when your pay days are and including a feature for multi-day calculation would be extremely helpful for hourly employees to manage and keep track of how much they have made to date on their next paycheck.

ADP is a good system to track information but, what it lacks is just some detail that provides time savings. Some instances they have made "updates" that tend to have been better previous to those "updates." One example is for staff to see how they have used their time off in the past. There should be an easy way to report and review such other than looking at pay periods. Pay statement and review and totals can also improve.

The training provided was based on a generic database and reporting which made it difficult to compare when you had your own database to work at. It also didn't provide good written materials that would be useful after the training session. It was more geared towards the practice tests or applications within the training.
