ADP Mobile Solutions

Since my company only uses the payroll features from ADP, I can only speak to those. I haven't had any issues with viewing pay statements and breakdowns, and I really like how there's a feature to hide the numbers when viewing your pay information, in case you don't want others near your screen seeing that information. This being said, I don't think it makes sense for a company to have different software for payroll, PTO, etc, which is what our company currently does. Since ADP allows you to have multiple features on this platform, I would recommend it for consolidating all "HR Type" features like this in one place.

Kronos Workforce Ready

Kronos Workforce Ready is extremely well suited for almost any organization. With ours, being in real estate often makes it difficult to track and provide data regarding hours and PTO to all of our site employees. With this system, it makes it easy for employees to view their hours worked and PTO accruals, which results in fewer questions being sent to our internal HR and Payroll teams. I would say that depending on your needs, there are other software but if you are looking for situations regarding hours and accruals as well as reporting related to these, this would be most suited for your needs. Less appropriate might be much larger staffs of corporate brands where there is just not enough customization in this software to provide for all employees scheduling and needs but for a mid-large company it is great.

Pros

  • I am impressed with the layout of mobile solutions. It is very simple to read and use.
  • I am looking forward to giving our techs access to clock in and out as they complete jobs on their routes to give a more accurate view of time spent driving and time spent at a customer's location.
  • Giving employees mobile access to their own pay statements, W2's allows them to deal directly with loan-mortgage companies when applying for a loan or doing their taxes.

  • The customer Service team is exceptional. Their team onboarded our company and trained everyone on the software from the get go and are always available at a moments notice for any questions our employees have!
  • Employees are able to view their hours and paid time off in order to track their data properly. This has allowed for our team to have more time for other initiatives whereas before they were answering payroll and PTO questions constantly.
  • Quick and easy reporting features that we can use to show data to management when requested.

  • Reporting features could be more detailed. For example, I am currently only able to run weekly reporting versus day by day or customizable reporting.
  • Monthly and past views of our employees data, hours and scheduling extending outside of the current pay period.
  • Shift swapping with coworkers could be more easily done and seamless.

We have begun looking for other vendors to supply this products need as Kronos WFR cannot deliver the suite of applications which it should with this product.*6/5/17 Edit - We started the new year with a new application. WFR proved to be unable to correct the errors within the application. We are much happier with the new application as we can use it effectively.

While some tasks such as updating an employee's basic info, password, and approver preferences are very easy to do and straightforward (all combined on a single employee maintenance page and updateable through a single 'save'), other items prove to be more cumbersome such as navigating through multiple layers of employees when you are up higher in management with more system rights

We were always told that Kronos was the best, but there are reports that we got out of ADP and other payroll providers that we cannot get out of Kronos. One example is a report of Productive/Non-productive hours by department. We also need the dollar amount associated with the hours. This is information that is required on our cost report and we were told that that report is unavailable. It is very frustrating when I can't get what I need.

We did not get much support when we were trying to implement. We felt like we were the only company with requirements for both Canada and the US and this seemed odd to us because North America is the most common place it was implemented. We found there was no integration with our source system so this made us have to create files so we can update members by position and make sure the right managers are in place for each group. We were not able to produce the requirements in a timely manner and we were not treated respectfully by the project manager from Kronos at the time

Alternatives Considered

Both software do the same types of things. I think either is a good choice, I would just recommend you consolidate all your processes onto one software. Having multiple software can be tedious and confusing for employees.

We selected Kronos Workforce Ready as it was priced right for what we intended on using it for. We selected them also because we have been using Kronos Workforce Central for manufacturing and it seemed like the right thing to do for consistency in processes for timekeeping. It was a bit of a long implementation but there was a lot of change management for all users, managers, and payroll as well as reporting needs and file transfer requirements from our source system. KWR is well known and we have a good relationship with them as a vendor. We are continuing to look at how to upgrade our Kronos Workforce Central application to make life easier on the manufacturing clerks and hoping to provide them with some new functionality in the process.
