I think it is well suited as long as the locations where an employee is allowed to clock in and out are tightly monitored by job title to prevent persons from clocking in/out while on their commute or when they are absent

I always recommend Workday to others, mainly because the reporting makes my life so much easier. I think any large company with a significant amount of HR data to track would benefit from Workday. The implementation process is a significant time commitment so it may not be worth it for smaller companies who have other ways of tracking information.

Pros

  • I am impressed with the layout of mobile solutions. It is very simple to read and use.
  • I am looking forward to giving our techs access to clock in and out as they complete jobs on their routes to give a more accurate view of time spent driving and time spent at a customer's location.
  • Giving employees mobile access to their own pay statements, W2's allows them to deal directly with loan-mortgage companies when applying for a loan or doing their taxes.

  • The user experience is superior to all others. It is built like all the consumer tools out there, so employees are familiar with the icons and navigation
  • Finally a solution that really has reporting that is already built in. There is no need to buy a data warehouse or anything
  • Configuring really is simple. you dont need to hire technical people to learn how to configure business processes

Cons

  • Since our company would like to use this tool for their techs, it would be nice if there was bar code reader (or something similar) so they tie their time card with our serv suite pest management technology.
  • I would like for the mobile app to give the individual the ability to send in address / phone number changes.

  • Time Tracking in countries with complex work-week and shift schedules is a challenge. I expect we'll continue to see improvements with Workday planned global expansion.
  • I would love for Workday to provide in-depth training at no cost for system administrators. We are able to manage the system and our needs independently. Depending on the project, it may take us longer and we may not really be optimizing the process or system if we're missing knowledge and experience that would help us do so.

It is work to make one system the source of truth for our data, but now that it is done, there is less work involved in staying on this path. This means for us that maintaining and/or implementing new modules like performance, finance, talent, etc. is simple. It's a no-brainer

Workday's on a great path in terms of user experience. Their goals is to deliver a use experience that doesn't require training or instruction, like Amazon on the consumer side for example. That's hard to do when you're talking about complex business processes and important and sensitive employee information, but they're doing it well

From my perspective, the system runs like a well oiled machine and I have not had any issues with customers complaining about speed. If a report is taking long to run, the report can run in the background and you can go about your business. For larger enterprises, there is additional space and machines to process the application in what Workday refers to it as Extended Configuration Tenant

The instructors are knowledgeable, the ability to do hands-on exercise throughout are invaluable. The materials are useful reference after training is over. However, for basic functionality the system is pretty easy to pick up and there are plenty of free classes and tools so that only the system support and implementation team really need to take formal Workday training.

I was not here at the time of implementation, but was involved in the stabilization post implementation and cleanup. Because Georgetown was the first higher education institution it was not the smoothest implementation however this is mitigated by several factors:1. Relative immaturity in the higher ed space2. Our own lack of expertise and experience with the system3. Challenges in terms of Workday Resources. Because the community is small, there is a significant challenge in getting dedicated resources to support implementations

I have not used another mobile solution...But I am impressed with this one. At age 52 if I find it easy to use then it must be very intuitive.

I have been in this business for over 20 years and I am familiar with all HCM solutions. Workday stacks up on top because of its superior user interface. It is easy to use and end users are familiar with the navigation. It is also very easy to configure. Configuring a business process is simple and with some training, you will not need to have technical staff or consultants to make those changes.

Workday has released Financials and is continuing to develop it's Human Capital Management footprint with the addition of Workday Recruiting. I think customers will find that is easy to add on additional functionality in the system.Workday does make it easy for customers to make changes without relying on IT resources. The Business Process framework is a visual tool that allows functional resources to make changes and see the flow of the transaction

Return on Investment

  • We have not had real test of the impact yet since we have not been able to roll out to our pest management techs.
  • I believe that if we keep trying to educate our employees on how to access and use the mobile solutions app we will see more positive feedback because of the ease of access to their information.

  • The biggest benefit is being able to track the state of the company as far as people – to know how many employees we have, who is where and being able to enable employees to self-manage benefits and contact information, HSA/FSA contributions. It puts a lot more ownership in employees to manage the data.
  • We are looking to expand usage to enable managers to do workflows, e.g. transfer employees to other departments once approved by HR; to allow managers to submit spot bonuses. This all removes administration tasks from HR.
  • We would be closer to where we want to be, if we had better understanding of the system, and more time.
