ADP RUN

RUN by ADP is perfect, in my opinion, for any size of company. Whether you have 5 employees or 500 employees. I feel that RUN by ADP will meet your needs and help make processing payroll as smooth as possible. Using RUN by ADP is a huge time saver for me. I love how easy it is to add new employees. I work at a company that is experiencing big growth and I am grateful for how easy it is to add new employees. I wish RUN by ADP was more transparent about the cutoff times to process payroll timely. It would be very nice to know what is the latest I could process payroll to have it be processed on time

Concur Travel and Expense

The audit log is one the important features that we looked for in travel/purchase request system. However, if you're a smaller company and doesn't need this audit history for financial audit, you can do fine with a less expensive travel and expense software.

Pros

  • The software platform is incredibly easy to learn and user-friendly.
  • The cost is surprisingly better than other payroll processing platforms, especially considering what is included and the longstanding national reputation of ADP.
  • The simplicity, automation, and available templates and reports are incredibly helpful to our growing organization.

  • With Concur, travel and expense has gone mobile. No more waiting in between trips to book additional travel or work on expense reports.
  • Their open platform environment allows other business to partner with them easily.
  • Once you learn who your Concur team is you can eventually accomplish just about anything you need to do in and with Concur in regards to booking travel and creating expense reports.

Cons

  • Communication during implementation could use improvement. A clear, written timeline of expectations would be useful.
  • Having a dedicated customer service rep or department, maybe even local, would be nice for those rare occasions that we need a little help.

  • Finding a weakness in Concur is hard. Concur implementation could be challenging for companies with NO IT department. How many very small companies don't have the expertise to integrate into their accounting package? The likely scenario is that they are so small they would not need it.
  • Again, finding a weakness is difficult in Concur. If I could dig enough into the development, I may find a bug or two, but top to bottom the product is as strong as you will find.

Does the bread & butter well, and implementing a new system would be a pain.

End-users can submit expenses with little or no training. This is huge. Supporting Concur would be a nightmare if this wasn't the case.

From a system configuration & customization perspective, Concur has the highest learning curve of any app I've used (NetSuite, Salesforce, Boomi, Xactly, Marketo, Zuora).

Uptime has been generally excellent, with the glaring exception of 3 weeks (yes, weeks) during 2014 in which Concur had repeated site-wide service disruptions affecting all users.

It's live (you can ask questions), it's free, it's good. What's not to like. Only reason it's not getting a "10" is breadth and depth, more would be better.

There are different implementation teams for each module of the product you purchase, so implementation is not a 'one size fits all' environment. Also, the different implementation teams have different ways of doing things, so Concur could stand some standardization and streamlining in this area.A Project Manager can make or break an implementation so don't be scared to ask for a new one if things are rocky.

Alternatives Considered

Compared to Paycor, ADP's web portal is much easier to navigate and use which has made running payroll easier. While the overall features are similar, ADP has more options such as integrating an HR support feature and linking to a 401k that make it more flexible. I have also found that generating reports is much easier in ADP's site, especially since it auto generates some key reports as soon as payroll is run.

We used in the past Travel Manager and Govtrip. I don't think these systems exist anymore. Govtrip was similar to Concur.
