ADP Streamline Payroll

I think that if the sales staff were more knowledgeable on the product they are selling you and were less worried about making a sale then perhaps I would have had a better experience and would have kept them longer than a couple of months.

QuickBooks Enterprise

QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions would be great for a company that is buying products and just reselling them as-is. It is great at keeping track of quantities remaining from previous purchases and time periods, adding new inventory purchased, and subtracting inventory sold. It would also work well for a company that purchased materials to manufacture items for stock, and then sold those stock items. QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions does not work very well for manufacturing of one-off or custom products as each item has to be "built", whether it is 1 item or 100 items. It also does not have an easy way to account for scrap or materials damaged in the manufacturing process.

Pros

  • The concept is good
  • Help is available
  • User friendly
No photo available
  • I like being able to attach documents in QuickBooks
  • Downing loading of bank transactions works well
  • I like the graphic user interface with the desk top edition
  • I like that I can use one Enterprise edition to support more than client at a time.
  • Like that my clients with multiple companies do not have to purchase multiple QuickBooks

Cons

  • ADP sales team should be more knowledgeable about the product they sell you
  • ADP employees should be more up to date on tax liabilities in different states
  • I think ADP should assign one contact person so you don't have to get a different person each time you need assistance
No photo available
  • There are limited capabilities when it comes to organizational growth and needs.
  • Tracking specific features of inventory within the system can be complicated.
  • Troubleshooting seems to be 'work-around' solutions rather than actual solutions to the software.

QB is a good and reliable system. We probably should have explore the other modules rather that jump in to the conclusion that we needed a new ERP.

It is a very easy system to learn, so with the help it was even easier. QB is a good solid system, but it lacks some of the complexity other systems have. with QB you need to get additional modules to get the same functionality that other systems offer standard

easy to learn system, specially with some kind of support. Just like with any other system, things get lot easier if you have guidance to lead you in your search for answers. having said that, QB is very easy to use and very easy to teach. you wont spend much time memorizing where to click.

Alternatives Considered

I can't really answer this question as I was the user of ADP Streamline but had no input in the choosing of ADP Streamline.

I actually use or offer support to all of the QuickBooks versions. It depends on my client's need as to which product I will recommend. As for QB Enterprise, I choose this product for my clients who need robust inventory, may have more than one company and want to combine reporting. This is typically a larger company that needs many users and most likely will also have a large data file or require a product with fewer restrictions.

The accounting functionality is very good, however, the one downfall is having to pass the file back and forth with the client. Real-time information would be a huge plus.

It is not a fair rating because we did not invest in different modules to accommodate for business grow and complexity expansion.

  • I cannot comment on this

  • In theory this product should allow us to work remotely as an organization. However when we needed this feature the most (evacuated from our office 3 weeks due to wildfires) the hosting for the product really let us down. We literally had 6 hours to pack. We didn't have time to bring our office PC with us. There is nobody you can talk to in order to get help or login info. If you don't take your PC with you, you are screwed. There is no toll free number that we can find to get login assistance in case of emergency. Ticket based system with third party host, is terrible. We had to pay our employees late due to this issue during an evacuation when our staff needed the money the most.
  • During set up, user/pass combos sent to us do not work and are it's not clear how to assign them. You then have to submit a ticket and wait 1-2 days to get an answer. The answer they give you are so screwy that you can tell they do not read the ticket and you have to keep stating the issue over, and over, and over again. Seen the movie "Groundhog Day"? Summit Hosting's support department is a living manifestation of that movie. I don't know about you, but as an ENTERPRISE user, I need into my quickbooks 10-15 times a day. Not once a week. Quickbooks has really dropped the ball by outsourcing the hosting and support for their product. For the price we are paying to use it, they should be able to provide an in-house, high quality solution. Financial software is the cornerstone of any business and Quickbooks and Summit hosting do not care about your needs as a customer. They have ruined our relationship with this transition.
  • Compared to other, newer accounting systems like Zero, there are very few ways to connect this to your CRM. Old server based version integrated with our database so we didn't have to type in client info into Quickbooks. (ie- porting contact info from Hubspot to QBE is not possible) . We set up nearly 80 customers a month so this is a huge time waste for us. The only QB product they can integrate with CRM is the very low functioning Quickbooks online. (QBO is a terrible product imo. Tried it for a year and gave up. ) So you give up a bunch of functionality when you go with QBE.
  • Having to work inside the Remote Desktop Environment for QBE is very clunky, slow and challenging to setup. You need two screens otherwise you are forever flipping. I really cannot comprehend why they have selected such an old way of doing business. "Cloud" in my mind means web based. It feels like the thinking for the structure of their cloud platform is 15 years old. I have not used Remote Desktop in over 10 years and yet here we are using it for QBE. You can't use a password wallet within their quirky hosting environment either. So our enterprise level of Dashlane doesn't work so we have to manually generate passwords and write them on a spreadsheet or a sticky note. Software requires constant updates of passwords so this is very challenging to administer as the Admin. I share the admin login with my finance person so if she changes the password and forgets to write it on the spreadhsheet, I can't work. (so much for computer generated and highly secure stored passwords. I now have three users with incredibly weak passwords because the onus is on the user to remember them. ) Copying and pasting data between remote desktop and your PC is spotty at best.
