I think that if the sales staff were more knowledgeable on the product they are selling you and were less worried about making a sale then perhaps I would have had a better experience and would have kept them longer than a couple of months.

QuickBooks Pro

The desktop version of QuickBooks pro has been a lifesaver for our business. We easily can track all transactions, bills, and invoices and keep up with account receivables & payables. We love being able to track costs per job as well as by type of expenditure. Reports make it easy to analyze any aspect of our business. Our accountants' job has become so much easier since we switched to Quickbooks allowing us to complete our taxes in a timely manner each year

Pros

  • The concept is good
  • Help is available
  • User friendly
No photo available
  • Bank reconciliation. The ability to reconcile in real time on the screen with check offs for cleared items makes reconciliations smooth.
  • The ease at which information can be transferred to us via a backup file is also useful.
  • The accountants file where changes are automatically imported is very useful.

Cons

  • ADP sales team should be more knowledgeable about the product they sell you
  • ADP employees should be more up to date on tax liabilities in different states
  • I think ADP should assign one contact person so you don't have to get a different person each time you need assistance

  • Quickbooks data base grows and grows. Our data file is now 2 Gig. I have tried to shrink it many times but the program is cumbersome and so far I have had little success. My only real complaint.

We use it with all our clients and have several QuickBooks Pro Advisors and will renew and continue to use it with our client base. It is easy to use, helps with collecting annual data and makes compiling of information for filing annual tax returns much easier. It makes our job a lot easier, than using manual records.

It does require some training to get used to, it's not really something you can figure out on your own. Every company is also going to have their own custom features. But, I feel really confident using it now after months of training and scenarios

I was a BIG fan of QuickBooks support for a very long time up until recently. The representatives were well trained and wanted to solve your problem for you, as a human, not as just a customer. In my recent experiences I feel as though that is no longer so. My last conversation was appalling. The representative only read the narrative provided over and over and would not send me on to a supervisor. Finally I hung up and called back. On this try, I was passed from department to department. I was not presented with a solution until I posted a rant on their Facebook page. It amazes me that I had to publicly complain to get results.

Best thing I ever did was to attend a two day training seminar on QuickBooks, I learned an immense amount in a short time with hands on training by experts. I strongly recommend such training for anyone using any part of the software. It will pay for itself in the first month.

Although QuickBooks Online does allow for remote capabilities, it just doesn't compare. The template customization is impossible. The desktop interface is not as friendly and not intuitive at all. The online version lacks the back and forth buttons the desktop version provides. I feel much more limited when using the online version versus the Pro.

We use QuickBooks for clients' records to do payroll and file tax returns. We can help clients easily keep their activity summarized on a monthly basis to see how their company performs. It is easy to copy portions or the entire file of a company as a template for another client. We can export chart of accounts, employee information, vendors, customers and other items.

Return on Investment

  • Decreased employee efficiency
  • Heavier work load to correct the things that didn't go right
  • Double entry for not receiving the proper product
No photo available
  • NEGATIVE --- had to replace it with more robust version (QB ACCOUNTANT)
  • POSITIVE -- Getting accounting into a real accounting package will save countless hours and help you sleep better at night
  • POSITIVE -- when you retain the services of a real finance professional, having your books in QuickBooks Pro will give you the best possible reporting and management tools.
