iCIMS

iCIMS is worth the investment for a large corporation. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for smaller companies. It does well if you expect a high applicant flow for every role. It may not be worth the money if you only hire one or two people per year. Definitely consider the ROI when you consider this product.

Pros

  • No one does payroll better than ADP. They have a long standing history of being a leader.
  • The support team to which we were assigned post-implementation is outstanding. Their customer service skills are off the charts, and their response time is good. It's a good match-up of personalities.
  • Having a cloud-based system takes a lot of load off an IT department as opposed to an on-premise software. With so many priorities and other systems that an IT department has to support, it is nice to call a dedicated response team to help with issues. If there are payroll issues, especially, a fix needs to quickly get in place so that paychecks go out on time.
  • Having a cloud-based system that also has mobile capabilities allows employees to access the system any time and place.

  • Applicant tracking - it allows us to keep up with their status in the entire new hire process
  • Ease of use - iCIMS is very user-friendly
  • Organization - iCIMS is very clearly labeled and organized, so you never have to search too far for someone or something

Cons

  • The software is still very new. As with any new software, there is a lot of room for improvement. One good thing about ADP is that they are interested in user feedback to make changes. Also, they incorporate changes fairly quickly.
  • The payroll processing time is longer than I've experienced with other software packages.
  • There are a lot of processes that could be put into the hands of the users instead of having to rely on the response team.
  • From my understanding, Vantage is not a global solution.
  • The software has a lot of potential. There are a lot of improvements they need to make to be more competitive in the marketplace.

  • At the time I was using iCIMs, I wish there was a functionality to sync iCIMs with a calendar (e.g. Outlook) to setup interviews. Everything was done separately so each recruiter had to have their own system in tracking when interviews were when, when to schedule follow ups, etc.
  • iCIMS could have a better user interface and overall, user experience. It's a big clunky and old-school in the way that it looks.
  • You have to click through a lot of different options to accomplish a small task. There isn't that intuitive-ness that you find prevalent in, for example, the current ATS I'm using, Greenhouse. If this was fixed, it would save a lot of time on the recruiter's part to recruit vs manage and work through this system.
  • It would be ideal if iCIMs was able to track interviewers and their feedback after interviewing candidates.

when required to move from PayForce to Vantage we expected to have greater functionality and reporting - did not expect to be forced to move to a product that was not ready, provided less functionality, required more dependence on ADP Service Rep for day to day function and cost more - was a big swing and a miss for ADP

A lot of set ups vary from company to company so parts of our training we found it difficult to relate it to our processes. They have TONS of training modules available and a streamlined process for what you should complete and when. Would have been helpful to have onsite training for how much one pays for the system.

Alternatives Considered

There is good and bad with any software that you choose. In the selection process, our organization had narrowed it down to SuccessFactors or ADP Vantage. Both had their strengths. In the past, I've used JDE, SAP, and Optimum. Most of my experience is with JDE. Honestly, I could give you pros and cons with each one of them

iCIMs is better in terms of reporting and tracking data. They also have great built-in reports that you can use to track progress. However, Greenhouse excels in every other way: better user experience, integrates with calendar invites for interviews, tracks feedback for every interview that goes down. There are also interview templates you can bake into the role. I also love that you can add prospects to a job for people you meet that are great but aren't the right fit at the moment. Greenhouse has fantastic tools you can integrate with e.g. coderpad where engineers can tech out other engineers in interviews.

Return on Investment

  • So far this product is not what we were looking for in a product. We had one that worked well and worked for us. Being put on a product that is not fully functioning for what we need and being told that it basically is what it is and we need to learn to deal with the new product is not the best customer experience. I am hoping that through enhancements that this product lives up to promise that was made when we were told we were moving to it.

  • Better analytics and reporting has lead to better decisions around the Talent Acquisition function
  • The added use of a position management function has help management determine where there headcount is in the process of hire/fire at any given point in time.
  • an improved recruiting workflow has given our recruiters a precise view into there req load and the status of there candidates allowing them to handle more reqs with no added effort.
  • A great candidate application process has lead to less "dropped" candidates and an increase in our candidate database. This has improved our sourcing efforts dramatically.
