I think it all depends on what the client is looking for. I mean we have been using Vantage for the last 6 years and it has come a long way from where it started. The nice thing is we have been able to grow with it and configure things to how we need them to be for our business. So each business needs are going to be different and ADP Vantage can keep up with those needs.

Kenexa

Kenexa is one of the big dogs in the ATS space so if you want a traditional enterprise wide ATS for recruiters, it will meet your expectations - no recruiter loves their ATS. If you are looking to be cutting edge and candidate experience focused, I think that there are more nimble systems out there that are trying to take it to the next level. Kenexa has a reputation as being difficult to work with and we have found that to be true - while we have liked several of the special project folks we have worked with, there is a lot of back and forth with engineering to get things done.

  • The new user interface is friendly and easy to use.
  • The Succession Management module is one of the best I've seen. It is easy to navigate the talent assessment and easy to use to facilitate calibration sessions.

Cons

  • The product is sold as fully integrated but it is not. The Recruiting Management module isn't considered part of Vantage by the ADP team members. And, the look and feel of it is very different than the other modules. And, it is very difficult to use.
  • The Performance Management module is designed to support a very traditional approach to performance management and it is very rigid. It's very difficult to support more progressive ways of developing performance and keeping employees motivated.
  • The configuration/implementation was extremely painful. Implementation consultants vary wildly on their knowledge of their own modules and almost none of them understand how what is built in their module might impact configuration in other modules.
  • Five months post go-live we continue to have significant issues. Many of which seem to arise when updates are made by ADP.

I wouldn't mind using Kenexa again because I've already learned it and feel I can pick it up again quickly. I have, however, encountered other tools that are faster and more efficient that I would be happy using in it's place. But overall, I feel as though I'd be able to pick it up again, and teach it... Training someone on it, however, seems like it would take some time and practice with the tool.

when required to move from PayForce to Vantage we expected to have greater functionality and reporting - did not expect to be forced to move to a product that was not ready, provided less functionality, required more dependence on ADP Service Rep for day to day function and cost more - was a big swing and a miss for ADP

A lot of set ups vary from company to company so parts of our training we found it difficult to relate it to our processes. They have TONS of training modules available and a streamlined process for what you should complete and when. Would have been helpful to have onsite training for how much one pays for the system.

Alternatives Considered

Our organization chose ADP Vantage HCM in order to eliminate the on premises solution of PeopleSoft as well as to outsource payroll processing. The cloud based, fully integrated solutions that the Vantage product line offers allows us to have a true "one-stop shop" for all our HR systems.

I did not have much to do with the selection process, but I found out that OpenHire was in the running, which is the worst system I have ever worked with. I was able to share my OpenHire experience, and hopefully that assisted with the selection of Kenexa. Compared to other systems I have worked with Kenexa is a superior system on the recruitment side
