I think it all depends on what the client is looking for. I mean we have been using Vantage for the last 6 years and it has come a long way from where it started. The nice thing is we have been able to grow with it and configure things to how we need them to be for our business. So each business needs are going to be different and ADP Vantage can keep up with those needs.

Kronos Workforce Ready

Administration and accounting for employees to input their hours. As long as an employee can have the training, then they can go in and input their hours. However, Kronos can be slow and it can be confusing without the training needed to input the hours. Otherwise, once you have the training it's very self-explanatory

Pros

  • No one does payroll better than ADP. They have a long standing history of being a leader.
  • The support team to which we were assigned post-implementation is outstanding. Their customer service skills are off the charts, and their response time is good. It's a good match-up of personalities.
  • Having a cloud-based system takes a lot of load off an IT department as opposed to an on-premise software. With so many priorities and other systems that an IT department has to support, it is nice to call a dedicated response team to help with issues. If there are payroll issues, especially, a fix needs to quickly get in place so that paychecks go out on time.
  • Having a cloud-based system that also has mobile capabilities allows employees to access the system any time and place.

  • The hardware is the industry best--we never hear any complaints about the card swipe machines or their usage
  • Easy synchronization with other software platforms like Nortel, NICE WFM and many more
  • User facing portal is simple to use and lets everyone keep up to date on their usage and accruals

We have begun looking for other vendors to supply this products need as Kronos WFR cannot deliver the suite of applications which it should with this product.*6/5/17 Edit - We started the new year with a new application. WFR proved to be unable to correct the errors within the application. We are much happier with the new application as we can use it effectively.

when required to move from PayForce to Vantage we expected to have greater functionality and reporting - did not expect to be forced to move to a product that was not ready, provided less functionality, required more dependence on ADP Service Rep for day to day function and cost more - was a big swing and a miss for ADP

While some tasks such as updating an employee's basic info, password, and approver preferences are very easy to do and straightforward (all combined on a single employee maintenance page and updateable through a single 'save'), other items prove to be more cumbersome such as navigating through multiple layers of employees when you are up higher in management with more system rights

We were always told that Kronos was the best, but there are reports that we got out of ADP and other payroll providers that we cannot get out of Kronos. One example is a report of Productive/Non-productive hours by department. We also need the dollar amount associated with the hours. This is information that is required on our cost report and we were told that that report is unavailable. It is very frustrating when I can't get what I need.

The Kronos support staff is great! They are all very knowledgeable, are thorough when explaining or showing me how to fix something and very friendly to speak with over the phone. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 was because there are times when I just want to pick up the phone and ask a quick question but I have to start a case instead. The online help has been very useful because a lot of times I can find the answer to my question on my own

A lot of set ups vary from company to company so parts of our training we found it difficult to relate it to our processes. They have TONS of training modules available and a streamlined process for what you should complete and when. Would have been helpful to have onsite training for how much one pays for the system.

Alternatives Considered

ADP Vantage HCM is not an optimal solution compared to the features offered by Greenhouse and Bullhorn Recruitment CRM. If a recruiting team has a need for a detailed pipeline that is accurate, user-friendly, easy to integrate and migrate data then Greenhouse or Bullhorn Recruitment CRM would be better options. ADP Vantage is very much a program that is difficult to adopt and use

Kronos definitely beats out the competition in terms of user-friendly features and simple "it works" functionality. We tried using several other payroll suites including Paychex and found they were lacking in a number of areas especially in terms of user interface. Our employees literally groan when they remember using these older systems, they absolutely love Kronos in comparison.

Return on Investment

  • negative -it slows our processing due to limitations and issues
  • negative - makes us more reliant on our service rep which slows us down (we used to be able to make changes like adding departments on our own - now our rep has to do this and other maintenance for us)
  • negative - we now have to pay for ADP to process adjustments for us instead of being able to use adjustments on our own

  • Our payroll processing time has decreased significantly, as well as the number of payroll errors incurred.
  • Tracking of employee hours worked has improved and become much simpler.
  • Being able to get a full overall view as an administrator on each employee helps with salary negotiations, and reviews.
