I think it all depends on what the client is looking for. I mean we have been using Vantage for the last 6 years and it has come a long way from where it started. The nice thing is we have been able to grow with it and configure things to how we need them to be for our business. So each business needs are going to be different and ADP Vantage can keep up with those needs.

The system allows us to make informed decisions through the accurate reporting capabilities which are a great help when dealing with complex people issues. The reports are accurate and are great for situations such as absence reporting.

Pros

  • The new user interface is friendly and easy to use.
  • The Succession Management module is one of the best I've seen. It is easy to navigate the talent assessment and easy to use to facilitate calibration sessions.

  • Complex reporting is made easy through the reporting capabilities of the system. We have been using reports for the past year and absolutely trust the accuracy of the data produced. The reports are generated easily through the system and can be exported into an editable Excel spreadsheet which is great.
  • The self-service of data is great for freeing up HR time. Employees can update their personal information themselves quickly and easily.
  • The App is a great feature of People HR. A large proportion of our employees work in our warehouse and as such don't have their own computer at work. The app allows those employees easy access to the system on the go.

Cons

  • When ADP releases updates, it sometimes causes issues with our current setup - mainly in terms of security access profiles. If they add a new feature or update an old one, sometimes those profiles will default to having access, which can cause a problem in terms of segregation of duties.
  • The initial support we received when we first went live from a payroll perspective was not the best. Our implementation team rolled off and we were informed that a new group would support us. Unfortunately, they did not know our entire set up, so they were, at times, as lost as we were. (This has improved over the last year.)

  • The system tends to be particularly slow on Monday mornings and sometimes can be down for a couple of hours at a time which is frustrating for employees
  • The naming of the tabs isn't as clear as they could be. For example, reports are called Queries. Makes getting used to
  • The org chart isn't very user-friendly, would be better to be able to export department by department

Usability

when required to move from PayForce to Vantage we expected to have greater functionality and reporting - did not expect to be forced to move to a product that was not ready, provided less functionality, required more dependence on ADP Service Rep for day to day function and cost more - was a big swing and a miss for ADP

A lot of set ups vary from company to company so parts of our training we found it difficult to relate it to our processes. They have TONS of training modules available and a streamlined process for what you should complete and when. Would have been helpful to have onsite training for how much one pays for the system.

Alternatives Considered

PayForce did everything we needed with less dependence on ADP and at lower cost - Vantage cost more, delivers less and makes us more dependent on ADP - if we had an option we would have stayed on that platform.

Return on Investment

  • negative -it slows our processing due to limitations and issues
  • negative - makes us more reliant on our service rep which slows us down (we used to be able to make changes like adding departments on our own - now our rep has to do this and other maintenance for us)
  • negative - we now have to pay for ADP to process adjustments for us instead of being able to use adjustments on our own

  • The system has freed up time of our administrators allowing them to get involved in more and develop themselves within the department
  • The data allows us to accurately report on absence which has supported the development of a new absence management process
