Considered Both Products
ADP Workforce Now
Chose ADP Workforce Now
SO much better than Paycor. ADP [Workforce Now] has more of a backbone that Paycor does. It has its processes already in motion and it seems like their specialist who help us with any questions know all their stuff, unlike Paycor.
Chose ADP Workforce Now
We have used Paycor in the past and it works similar to ADP but the interface just looks simpler. ADP is much better since there are numerous tutorials or helpful links to teach you how to use the software. The bridge also offers help from other users that have similar isssues.
Chose ADP Workforce Now
I did not previously use this system, but our Sr. HR Generalist did, and I have been told Paycor was much more user friendly and did not require so much updating information in numerous areas. The platforms/pages "talked"/were synced much more efficiently
Chose ADP Workforce Now
I have only used Paycor outside of ADP, but not from the human resources perspective. I was a regular employee there who used it to clock in and out, and check tax information. It was nice being able to easily access it over the phone rather than going to a computer as I was …
Chose ADP Workforce Now
Well, we will be moving on from ADP. In terms of comparison, Bullhorn has the same shortcomings that ADP had. It's clunky and takes a lot of steps to minimal things. Lots of pretty colors and visual appeal but clunky to use. Akken is probably the worst system I've ever used. …
Chose ADP Workforce Now
Paycor was just not as developed. They are smaller and do not have the same/as many features.
Chose ADP Workforce Now
I do like ADP better. It has more functionality and I like the overall look and ease of use of the site. The only issue with ADP as compared to Paycor is that the amount of fees for things like amendments or previous quarter adjustments is extreme.
Chose ADP Workforce Now
ADP is well developed and customer service is by far the best that I have experienced. ADP also provides CPE for CPAs.
Chose ADP Workforce Now
I did not select ADP, I'm evaluating the other softwares to move away from ADP.
Chose ADP Workforce Now
ADP's integration with the ADP 401k was the best option for us. The other providers were not able to provide the integration we needed.
Chose ADP Workforce Now
I like ADP Workforce Now.
Chose ADP Workforce Now
All 4 were very similar in functionality. We were able to get ADP for the lowest price of the 4 (with the most features included)
Chose ADP Workforce Now
Some are very comparable, but ADP had better pricing and scalability to fit our needs.
Chose ADP Workforce Now
Better reporting functions, better on-boarding assistance, and better PTO accrual tool.
Chose ADP Workforce Now
ADP's ROI and strong track record has always kept us in their camp despite other vendors attempting to pull us away.
Chose ADP Workforce Now
For me, there is no comparison.
Chose ADP Workforce Now
ADP Workforce Now was cheaper and a lot more user-friendly.
Chose ADP Workforce Now
We were looking at these vendors as options to change from ADP. They are still on a mainframe structure, while most competitors are on a cloud-based system.
Chose ADP Workforce Now
ADP has been more user-friendly than our previous systems for both admins and users alike. But is a far cry from some of the newer, non-legacy software for payroll. Goodbye ADP.
Chose ADP Workforce Now
ADP is certainly more robust, but also, more expensive. We do not partner with ADP for ATS because of the price.
Paycor
Chose Paycor
I was not involved in evaluating Paycor vs anything else. We had ADP Workforce Now prior to Paycor and it got us by, but did not have near the functionality that Paycor does. It was also not user friendly and there was no point person you could talk to, as all the …
Chose Paycor
I have used both Paycom and ADP Workforce Now, among 3 to 4 other products and find that they promise similarities to Paycor, but that they do not deliver. Higher Fees and less offerings. Customer Support generally is not as good as Paycor's and both made multiple errors in …
Chose Paycor
Paycom looks good but doesn’t deliver, they are a giant pile of crap.
ADP Workforce Now - as a small organization you will not get the attention you need. I would be on hold for 45 minutes or longer for simple questions.
Paycheck - too bare bones
UKG - I’ve never used them, …
Chose Paycor
Paycor is easier to use. We used to upload our data, but with Paycor, we are able to enter it right on the grid.
Chose Paycor
Paycor was just the product that seemed to offer the most diversity of products and the easiest to use. Our previous software was too complicated when you needed to add a job code or change a benefit. Paycor makes these changes easy to do. The employee app was also the one …
Chose Paycor
ADP could not handle our business structure at all- when it came to the organizational chart, the occupational taxes, or the movement of employees from one payroll to another.

Paycor was able to provide us a much better experience with these issues
Chose Paycor
About the same as PeopleSoft slightly less than ADP.
I was not involved in the selection process.
Chose Paycor
We selected Paycor because our previous company dropped the ball on important updates and even forgot to process a payroll. We wanted something that would be better to communicate with us.
Chose Paycor
ADP does have better tools than Paycor, but I think Paycor is easier to use than ADP for smaller company size.
Chose Paycor
Better than ADP and Paychex, allowed for a much more comprehensive product.
Chose Paycor
ADP seemed to do everything we needed but the cost was out of reach. We've used ADI Time in the past. ADI time didn't have enough of the HR functionality that Paycor has.
Chose Paycor
I think Paycor is very comparable to other payroll companies out there. Their pricing was better than the previous company we used, which was ultimately the reason we switched payroll companies to begin with. The previous company didn't do upgrades very often and that is one …
Chose Paycor
It doesn't. We are trying to just save money but ADP is better so far. Sorry.
Chose Paycor
From a cost perspective, Paycor competes well with Paylocity and with ADP but UltiPro is far more expensive. In terms of providing a sense of peace and confidence, Paycor ranks above ADP in my mind but below the others.
Chose Paycor
Some features of Paycor are better, such as open enrollment and the new hire wizard, but others are poor, such as the benefit administration and history.
Chose Paycor
Reporting is much better, and it's easier from an employee standpoint.
Chose Paycor
I have used several other payroll and HRMS products in previous positions. I didn't select Paycor for my current job; it was already in place when I started, but I have found it to be user-friendly and efficient. I am happy with the process that we currently have in place. …
Chose Paycor
I have used ADP in the past, and it felt like I was nothing more than a part of an account to them. With Paycor, I know they recognize me as a person, a part of a company.
Chose Paycor
Paycor is superior to what we have used in the past.
Chose Paycor
Paycor is a lot more user-friendly and customizable for business and HR needs than the other systems that I have used previously.

If you are looking to automate processes and have the system handle administrative, boring tasks this is the system for you. They are continuing to evolve and are coming out with improvements constantly. Have a suggestion on an improvement they will listen and consider implementing.

It's really great for us. Our payroll administrator retired and we decided to absorb that function within HR. Paycor takes care of the taxes and much of the extra details she had done previously allowing that transition to be possible. The software is easy to use and my managers have taken on more with timesheet review. If a company has really complex differentials it might not be ready for them, yet. We have one that I have to do manually but I'm hopeful they will be able to add it in soon!

Pros
ADP
  • HRIS that is personalized for the employee and addresses DE&I needs.
  • Payroll, of course! The system addresses all needs, such as deductions, additional pay, premium OT, and shift differentials.
  • Onboarding is an excellent way to stay in compliance and have all documents completed.
  • Tax and Banking and resolution to any issues.

  • Scheduling for management is well organized and easily visualized to ensure proper coverage while avoiding overtime or being over staffed.
  • Scheduling for the employees is user friendly. Employees can easily request and view their time off. They can also view their schedule along with their team's at any time.
  • Payroll is very streamlined. With scheduling and payroll in the same system, everything can be quickly verified for accuracy. All time sheets are kept within the system and then easily processed for payroll.

Cons
ADP
  • I would like it if better communication was sent out about new product updates. Sometimes, I go into a screen and things are different and I have to relearn it on the fly.
  • Editing the mobile app - I would like it if what is shown on the desktop version was automatically on the app. WAY more of my employees use the app, but I put the most important information on the desktop version because it is easier to update.

  • Customer Service is atrocious. We've had 6 Customer Success Managers in less than 3 years-hard to develop any type of rhythm in addressing and solving problems. They also utilize a ticketing system to report issues, but there is little to no communication of when tickets are actually resolved and what the resolution was-requires a ton of prodding from the client to get answers to emails.
  • Integration with third party platforms (benefits for example) is also lacking. Issues are prevalent and take excessive time to resolve.

Due to the lack of support from the sales and service center we are looking at other options outside of ADP. Again it is a good system, it just lacks the support it deserves from the company employees. It is just unimaginable that you will need to reach out to a service provider several times for the same issue and not get it resolved.

The product is really good overall. The customer service is not the best and the benefits administration is kind of painful. However, the good outweighs the bad. We might get a different benefit admin system that can be integrated into Paycor. My controller doesn't want to switch anything for a [long] time.

Usability
ADP
I would give it a 10 however I do not like when ADP does facelifts in Workforce Now which does not add any value other than having to relearn navigation. I am also not a big fan of being forced to refer to the Bridge. We have Google which gives the same results. If I understood the answer I would not contact our Account Rep.

Unfortunately, Paycor has a major system issue that in my opinion needs to totally be reconfigured. The benefit module is not accurate and does not work correctly. The EDI feeds do not work and took over a year to be implemented and still were not accurate

I feel like Paycor is always up and running! If they are planning downtime, they communicate it clearly. Every once in a while, I get something that says the system isn't working but it is usually back up within the hour. I typically find by the time that the employees complain about it, that it is resolved within the system.

For the most part, everything moves super fast. There are a few sections (Expense Management) that sometimes take a bit to load correctly. Or if they are interesting, it takes a minute to talk to each other! But reports are quickly downloaded and available! Even data heavy reports run fairly fast!

I feel like support will transfer you back and forth between departments and put you on hold forever. I believe it is very difficult to see the status of an open ticket. During my experience, it feels like the client has to push all communication and request updates from support regularly.

In-Person Training

In-person training was pretty good - I think this significantly depends on the trainer. Our trainer was really good and showed what ADP can do - but I know that all trainers are not the same - and this truly makes such as difference. Overall, our training went pretty well.

Online Training
ADP
At the time training was not as expansive as it is now. If it could go wrong it did for me so the process was difficult and lengthy. I needed to have more in person walkthroughs of things to ensure the transition was done correctly. Not sure what else I can say, we were part of the initial move to Workforce Now when it was introduced.

The online trainings are super helpful. They have user guides that you can read through, interactive training that will walk you through it as well as plain web based ones. I've actually never had an in-person training but all of the information you need can be found online. They also will do individual support training if you are struggling with a certain area.

Implementation Rating
ADP
Either assign more than one specialist to the implementation process, or assign less clients to the implementation specialist. The process requires attention to detail and the ability to test and re-test as well as verify the information. It also requires a lot of back and forth between the client ant the implementation specialist, so they need to be readily available during the whole implementation process.

Implementation of any new software is going to be challenging, especially if you are maintaining an existing program concurrently. When it is time for dual-processing (both old and new software) prior to going live, be prepared to be stressed. But trust the process and it will be over soon.

Paylocity was cumbersome and not very intuitive. I was constantly on the phone with them trying to figure out how to do something. I once called back 4 different times( because I didn’t believe the answer they gave me was how to do what I was asking), explained my problem the exact same way and got 4 different answers. So, I lost trust in the product and started looking for a product I could rely on.

I gave it a 10 because we only use it across one organization. However, it has allowed us to break it into multiple departments and layers of management. Return on Investment
ADP
  • ADP WorkforceNow has provided a positive ROI for our company. It has saved me countless hours in the time I used to spend preparing reports, managing benefits, and annual enrollment, recruitment tracking, and much more.
  • The integration with Payscale has allowed our company to take every position in our organization and benchmark it to industries and job titles. This has allowed us to be more competitive on recruitment and retention.
  • We have used the new DE&I dashboard to provide valuable information on the landscape of our workforce, as well as areas of our organization that may not be as diverse.

  • ACA - Great. It took us approximately two hours to complete, compared to the 40+ Hours it took us in previous years.
  • Timesheet maintenance- this takes more time than it did previously.
  • Reporting - Confusing and Difficult. Very little customization and has forced us to rely less on reports.
  • Performance- Supervisors are spending 20% less time on performance reviews due to the easy of answering the questions.
