ADP Workforce Now

ADP is well suited for compliance with all legal regulations. I like that as soon as any new law comes out, ADP has taken ownership of the law and usually has already provided me with a solution or work around to make sure I am in compliance. The reliability of ADP is excellent and I have never had one bad dream of ADP not being around in the future.Workforce now is not well suited if you have a workforce that has multiple work rules, pay rates, pay types, and pay additions. You will more than likely have to keep a spreadsheet externally for these numbers and manually manipulate data.

TimeForce

If a colleague was interested in making the TimeForce purchase I would ask them to make sure they have a use for most, if not all of the functionality the system offers. Are you going to use it to track employee accruals, wage information, and as a scheduling system?Have you decided if you are going with the hosted cloud solution or localized system? If localized you are responsible for the server. If it is a local solution and they have remote locations - do they have a network setup and in place for users to communicate with your remote server? How many employees does your company have? I would not recommend TimeForce to a small company, in my opinion it is better suited for a company with 40-50 plus employees.

Pros

ADP Workforce Now

  • Employee self-service - eliminate paperwork, give your employees power, and simplify your workflow!
  • Intranet system - share what's new with your staff, track all of your company's policy forms, and roll-out various trainings!
  • Onboarding activities (custom activity management) - eliminate all your new hire paperwork and focus cultural assimilation during those first couple of days!

  • The ability to customize user security rights is extremely valuable. The ability to create new or even modify existing user rights allows us complete flexibility as to who can control what, who, and how. This is important to us as everything in use at our company is very flexible and custom, which makes the TimeForce system fit right in.
  • The time card system itself has been thus far flawless. It has accounted for the leap year and daylight savings each year. Punch errors, Holiday, Vacation, Sick time is all easily viewed with a glance at the screen.
  • The reporting features of TimeForce are outstanding. There are far more reports available than we have needed. But at the same time anytime a user has thought 'it would be nice to see this' we have found it listed in the Reports section of the web interface.

Cons

ADP Workforce Now

  • Implementation - as an administrator, make sure that you know what's happening at every point of implementation! This process can be disjointed.
  • Training - the learning curve is steep when adapting to this system. Be prepared to spend hours formally training, staying on the phone with customer service, and surfing the "Bridge" (a peer support system). Every minute you invest will be worth your time!

TimeForce

  • I believe the installation of the Card Reader systems is a bit difficult. From my last experience there were third party hardware and software requirements, along with a second piece of software with TimeForce. It was not something we were able to complete on our own and had to contact QQest for support.
  • The scheduling system inside the web interface is a bit difficult to use. We have talked in the past about putting the system to use for scheduling purposes and retiring an older solution, but it is not something our HR department has found easily navigable. We are in the process of providing them with QQest training documentation.
  • I am sure there are changes to the newer version of TimeForce II, but from my experience on TimeForce I (2.9) and being a software engineer / UI designer, I believe that the system could have a less complex-look and feel to it. At times all the options available at once do tend to become somewhat cumbersome.

The system works, period. QQest support is extremely knowledgeable of their product. In the very few times I have contacted them (mostly for updates) I allow them to remote in and the problem is fixed or the application is upgraded within the hour.I have not run into any errors with the system, it has performed bug-free (at-least to the user) for the entire six years that I have managed the system. The only issues that we encountered and needed support where in the event of a software upgrade. One thing I might consider a negative is the cost of the Microsoft SQL Server product needed at your cost in order to run the TimeForce software (if localized). Currently we are considered using the hosted solution at our next upgrade point. We don't have to renew until we are ready to upgrade, but we always have support available which is nice.

Most of my issues can not be handled by the chat so I have to call in and usually I am on the phone for an hour or two and my problem does not always get resolved immediately or I have to wait for the next update to get resolved. When there is an update the wait time is even worse because it never fails they do an update to fix one problem and another one arises.

The instructions from the recruiting agency on how to use the system was pretty straightforward. It provided step-by-step procedures on where you would need to log in your hours as well as what you would need to highlight (i.e. regular, overtime, etc.) detailing the type of hours that were worked overall. The handout also provided some pictures of the application

Implementation

Either assign more than one specialist to the implementation process, or assign less clients to the implementation specialist. The process requires attention to detail and the ability to test and re-test as well as verify the information. It also requires a lot of back and forth between the client ant the implementation specialist, so they need to be readily available during the whole implementation process.

Alternatives Considered

ADP Workforce Now

When making the choice to pursue WFN, I courted four companies. All had bells and whistles comparable to WFN, some even had sexier features, but none had the same business longevity as ADP. I entered this agreement hesitantly due to ADP's customer service reputation, but dedicated myself to learning the programming and exploring the system weekly. This undoubtedly helped me communicate my needs and accomplish our agency goals. I am SO HAPPY that we landed with WFN and would highly recommend it to colleagues. From payroll to benefits management, WFN is a win.

Return on Investment

ADP Workforce Now

  • Accurate, integrated Time & Attendance is by far the #1 efficiency for the organization I implemented this system for. They went from paper time sheets to having the ability to have employees enter their time via their smart phone overnight.
  • The more robust and date effective reporting allowed us to finally be able to tear into the data and ensure people were being paid correctly.
  • The prior system was a Citrix based platform that could only be ran on one computer, whereas Workforce Now is internet based, allowing me to work whenever and however I needed to.

TimeForce

  • More reliable hours for employees on paychecks.
  • Faster getting payroll done.
  • Very straightforward base.
