ADTECH

AdTech is best for when you're examining data based on clicks or "likes" – if you're looking to get an idea of what your audience is looking for, you can examine a trend among certain users to determine what drives users and where. This is super helpful for social media managers and web developers. It helps them determine where to drive their UI/UX design

Twitter Ads

I highly recommend Twitter Ads for users looking to establish a strong online presence on the platform and the digital sphere. While a little on the expensive side, the payoff, in the long run, is quite remarkable especially that Twitter Ads will show your content to all the followers gained (while other platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, use algorithms that might place your daily content lower or won't even show them to your fans)..

Pros

  • Adtech follows an algorithm that learns as you use it. It helps process data based on you (or your user) to help determine the best experiences for your client. Pretty neat.
  • Adtech helps streamline work by consolidating workflow. Everybody can be on the same page because everything is accessible to anybody in the organization (security pending, obviously). It helps because the data is available if you need it – and you don't have to fetch anything for anybody.
  • Adtech is best for larger organizations – and the developers who help create the technology understand that. Working with an interface like Adtech is simple, and easy to use. I can't remember what I did before it!

  • One of the main benefits of using Twitter ads is the ability to target your competitors' followers. This enabled us to target our client's competitors whenever we ran ads on the platform and helped us not only gain a new customer but also move them away from our client's competitors.
  • High conversion rate compared to other platforms
  • A conversation starter and easy sales lead generation
  • Lots of CRMs now can plug into your Twitter mentions feed to create sales lead and customer care cases.

Cons

  • The algorithm is a little...well, dumb, at first. And at times it can stay dumb. We've had users complain of clicking on a click-bait headline for an article, and getting ads that represent something else entirely (off to the side, of course). This doesn't make our clients happy.
  • AdTech can be prone to crash at times – randomly – it's a little unpredictable, you may want to make sure that your database can handle a streamlined workload. Doesn't work well with older tech.
  • Customer service at AdTech is okay, but there's always room for improvement. The support is good, but I don't like being put on hold.

  • The level of customer support we get using Twitter Ads is poor at best. There is no email address where we can send inquiries or query any decisions regarding our ad campaigns. Rather we are only allowed to open a complaint form from which we sometimes don't get any response at all and on the few occasions when we do, we only ever get one line or canned responses.
  • The mobile ad version of Twitter ads leaves very little possibility for users. I am unable to edit my campaign creatives , or re-target our ad campaigns via the mobile platform. Every serious task to be done with Twitter Ads has to be done from behind my PC. This is the era of the mobile-first approach and I wonder why Twitter doesn't seem to get this logic, at least in regards their ad management.
  • Geographical targeting, while very efficient on Twitter, can be much better. Within the South-African Twitter space, we have only had options to target major cities. However we want to be able to target towns and districts too.

The tool is ok to use, and ads are becoming more skippable on Twitter, so we are unsure as a company if it's still a good channel for direct response messaging. It does not perform as efficiently as other social platforms for lower funnel marketing. It does well for awareness campaigns that are set and forget, but optimizing for DR is not as efficient when you are trying to manage the ads on the client side.

Alternatives Considered

Maybe Google Analytics? But even that doesn't offer the same amount of services as AdTech – and I think that's because this is what AdTech does, and Google is spread a little thin. I use several different platforms, but I did have a lot of fun working with Adtech. Bottom line is, if you're a social media manager and you're tired of using other programs, give AdTech a shot

Compared to Facebook Ads or Instagram Ads, Twitter Ads was more expensive. However, when we only look at the conversions rate of Twitter Ads, it always had way higher numbers, mainly because it is conversation driven and allows for the customer to speak directly to you as a business owner in a 2 way conversation.

Return on Investment

  • AdTech helps us determine where to steer our audience, and where to project our next campaign.
  • AdTech helps us view data based on user likes, clicks, and analyze trends among our audience.
  • What I don't like about AdTech is that it can sometimes put some people out of a job, as it streamlines work to the point that some on payroll may be...well, unnecessary.

  • Twitter ads have allowed us be as cost effective as possible with our marketing budget.
  • With Twitter Ads reports , we have been able to analyze metrics of every ad campaign, allowing us to discover possible ways to improve on them. This obviously is not a possibility with traditional advert channels.
  • We have generated more leads with Twitter Ads than we have on Instagram and Facebook Ads, which are the two other social media platforms where we regularly run advertising campaigns.
