Likelihood to Recommend

Aerohive Wireless

A large segment of the Aerohive client base is the education market, which is very different in terms of agility and immediate support needs of financial institutions. They seem to focus more effort on their wireless AP solutions, which I have only rarely tested. When it comes to remote access, the solution is still relatively expensive due to the upfront hardware purchase, though recurring costs are fairly low.

Back in the day these were really well priced, and had some amazing coverage. After using newer Cisco gear, while more expensive, they dont shine so brightly anymore. They did have trouble under load as well. I would recommend them to someone only if they were really constrained in their budget for wifi equipment.

Support Rating

Aerohive Wireless 8.0

Support was always responsive and willing to help, but at times did not know when to call it and send a replacement to stop the bleeding. I respect that fact that they wanted to get the solution working, and the wanting to learn more and understand, but at times you cant do that at the expense of the customer.

Alternatives Considered

Aerohive Wireless

The Aerohive wireless devices are comparable to Cisco's wireless solution, in regard to performance, features, and management. But the cost of utilizing Cisco Wireless Access Points versus using the Aerohive access points is staggering. Since our wireless access points do not maintain a constant heavy load, we chose a more cost effective solution and have not had many issues with them.
