Agency Analytics

Agency Analytics is one of the best website rank tracking tools that I have used so far. I feel like it shows a great amount of insight into the fluctuation of ranking over time. This tool is extremely helpful for B2B marketing agencies where you need to be able to show progress to your clients. Also, the ability to see the results in a live SERPs page gets rid of the trouble of showing a client the live result when you're not next to each other.

Pros

  • I love the keyword "pool" system that Agency Analytics uses. We purchase a certain number of keywords (6,000) and then we can spread those across our accounts as we see fit. If we need more keywords for another company, we can remove them from an existing one without losing them. That also means that we can change keywords, add keywords, and remove keywords instantly from reports without waiting 30 days for them to re-run.
  • The customizability of the dashboard is new and awesome. We are able to create dashboard templates to use for our clients that shows exactly what we want it to. It also allows us to add text and links to explain certain aspects that might not be readily understandable to people outside the industry.
  • I also really appreciate the ability to send clients their own logins to the site. We add clients in as users to view their own reports at any time.
  • Agency Analytics runs results all day long and allows you to hover over the result to view more information as well as click to view the result in the SERPs.

  • Hootsuite Impact integrates with Google Analytics, so you can more easily track conversions.
  • Hootsuite Impact allows (nearly) unlimited users to collaborate in the system simultaneously.
  • Hootsuite Impact allows users to view data across social platforms (i.e. Twitter and Facebook in one view).

Cons

  • More granular control over each module.
  • Ability to limit the number of results in each module. For Facebook results, for example, we get multiple pages of results when I'd prefer to just include top 10 or top 20, etc. Not every single one.
  • Faster report generation.

  • The tagging feature could be improved. It currently does not map well to Hootsuite Enterprise's publishing dashboard and requires manually mapping on the back end to connect the two systems.
  • We pay separately for Hootsuite Ads. Hootsuite Impact could better integrate with the Ads platform to get a holistic view of paid and free campaigns.
  • There are a lot of different sections in the platform--for recommendations, insights, dashboards, etc. You can also search things by saving filtered searches and applying those filters to other areas of the platform. How these things work together isn't always clear or intuitive.

Because Hootsuite has a strong publishing/listening tool that connects to analytics, it was the best for us. Tracx has incredible analytics, but their publishing tools were not as strong. Sprout Social was good as well, but their single inbox/stream was not ideal for managing 10+ social accounts

Return on Investment

  • Helped us monitor campaigns effectively
  • Helped reduce the need of long reports as we could get data anytime
  • Helped monitor campaign performance in order to optimise better for SEO

  • Positive - being able to centralize our social media management has helped save time and resources
  • Positive - we can better measure our efforts and course correct more quickly if something is/isn't working.
  • Positive - we can better track conversions on social posts aimed to sell products with actual purchases on our website.
