We use it in higher education because of the scalability, ease of use, multiple levels of access, and the incredibly easy and intuitive user interface makes learning Agorapulse easy.When we deployed, we were thinking of really getting a posting solution with analytics, but we were really impressed with what came with the package. The social media inbox caused us to redesign our strategy and focus more on two way communication. The contest apps are a huge plus especially for a university where students always want to win free things.

Yotpo is a great tool for any organization that has a dedicated full-time resource for the process and elevation of customer reviews. There is workable automation within the tool but apart from the proactive pursuit of reviews, it offers little. Responses to Q and A are 100% manual. Responses to 1 - 3-star reviews are 100% manual in their moderation. There are additional teams whose services can be purchased at an additional cost to help alleviate some of the resource bandwidth consideration, however, Yotpo really only provides depth and help when serviced by a dedicated individual.

Pros

  • Social media posting through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Excellent UI and especially in the social inbox. Its now incredibly easy to keep up with comments, mentions, posts, all in one place.
  • Competitor analysis allowed us to cut out roughly 12 hours of work per month. We are working more efficiently and getting more done with our staff we have.

  • Automated review request emails -- don't have to worry about sending these manually and they get a great response rate.
  • Onsite reviews -- The reviews widget on product pages helps build confidence and credibility.
  • Moderation -- Through the moderation dashboard, we can easily respond to both positive and negative customer experiences.
  • Q&A -- Customers can post a question to a product page and other customers can respond.

Cons

  • Expansions into other social networks such as Instagram Story or Snapchat
  • Bit.ly shortening on the Facebook publishing, and in-app Instagram main link changing would be incredibly helpful.
  • Bit.ly API and analytic integrations would be helpful.

  • Tech support is horrible. It literally took them over a year to solve a simple problem with how their widget was displaying on my site.
  • Their pricing is obscene. They suddenly raised it by a factor of 10! With no warning and no grandfathering in for existing customers.
  • Their sales staff is pushy and rude like a bad used cars salesman.

Our organization is very lean and agile and does not have the resources to staff either a Marketing or Customer Service Team member on reviews full time. We know and understand the value of such an individual but are unable to staff a position at this point. This reduces the value of the tool in our eyes.

Alternatives Considered

I think AgoraPulse combines the best aspects of Sprout Social and Hootsuite into one program. Hootsuite is fantastic for listening, but lacks in the publishing and metrics departments. Hootsuite also does not have any form of Instagram analytics. Sprout Social has great tools for metrics but I feel like their listening tools are lacking. I feel that AgoraPulse has all of these tools and is the perfect platform for listening, publishing and metrics.

We experimented briefly with the Shopify Reviews app, but saw almost no response as the emails had to be sent manually or otherwise automated. Yotpo made it super easy and our response rate is very good now. You can do the math for your business, but if it helps drive X additional sales and costs you Y for the software

  • Yotpo was very useful in the beginning offering a simple service, well executed for a reasonable price. But when they suddenly raised it from $30 per month to $399 per month, they completely priced my business out and now I'm stuck with hundreds of reviews on their platform that I must find a way to migrate elsewhere so as not to lose the reviews I've collected with them.
