Likelihood to Recommend Linode does a super job if you want to run a custom application or install your own Linux software. We installed WordPress and a radio station. They both ran smoothly. It is easy to upgrade the CPU and RAM without destroying your server. Hard drive space could have more options. We could also monitor the speed and storage.
Read full review We are a cloud-only shop, so Druva Data Resiliency Cloud is a natural fit. We do not have a large Azure VM presence, so I do not know how well they play in that space. If you are not cloud-focused, I am not sure that Druva Data Resiliency Cloud's strengths will be easily seen. However, in the cloud they are tough to beat.
Read full review Pros It's super easy-to-use - set up a complete virtual environment in a few minutes. Linode is the ONLY service I know that will let you DOWNSIZE a VM - super useful. The price is right - spin up any size server and add additional block storage if needed. Object memory is cheap and integrates very well with S3 CLIs and applications. I've been very happy with the knowledgeable and friendly customer service. The more recent additions of a firewall and Kubernetes is a welcome plus. The load balancer ("Load Balancer") service is easy to spin up and configure. Read full review We like the option of downloading backed up files both individually and as a group. The ransomware protection is a security feature that puts our minds at ease when it comes to the safety of our data. The Customer Success team does frequent reach outs and technical health checks. Read full review Cons Some of the documentation requires some hand-holding to get started. It does explain how to do things, but sometimes finding the answer takes work. Some of the settings are not obvious, or in locations that are not completely clear without experience. Read full review They have more ways to improve in Analytics section and UX. I recommend to have to integrate with the cloud storages cheaper option to store backups which would be tremendous for customers to save snapshots costs. Love to see Druva Data Resiliency Cloud have a better rbac policy on who can trigger the DR engine. Read full review Likelihood to Renew I've been with them a long time. They provide me with the capabilities I need coupled with knowledgeable support that's not pay-for-extra. However, if I move to a non-Linux OS, the level of support by necessity will drop off. I can still ask questions about the infrastructure but I my ability to ask about OS features will decrease.
Read full review This is the second company I've brought to Druva. Just today, I was tasked with recovering a file from a user that last saw it 6 months ago. I was able to restore it in under 5 minutes of getting the request. It's really that easy.
Read full review Usability It's pretty easy for me, but I preferred their old interface before it was called 'cloud' (not a computer science term.) The new interface looks easier but I had to ask for help for things I used to be able to find myself. If someone was new to it--without having used their old interface--it might be easier for them than it originally was for me.
Read full review The product is easy to navigate and manage. Setup and configuration is also easy. We did not need to pay for any additional professional services. Our account team worked with use on the integration. It was not complex or difficult to learn how to setup and use. End users also have the ability to log in and manage their own files and emails
Read full review Reliability and Availability There is very little planned downtime. Whenever planned downtime is necessary I'm always given lots of advanced notice and an explanation that I can pass along to my users that they'll understand. I really appreciate that Linode appreciates my commitment to reliable service to my users. It shows that they believe they've been successful when I'm successful.
Read full review Like any service, there are scheduled maintenance periods and unscheduled outages, however outages have been very limited and fortunately have not had any impact on our environment.
Read full review Performance Linode is an infrastructure provider issues related to performance are really on me. Linode provides a capable infrastructure and allows me to tailor performance of the services I provide to my customers to my specific situation. Linode allows me to implement "tweaks" that, from experience, I know will do the job with little risk without a whole bunch of static from idiot support 'droids who just get in the way ("this isn't supported at the present time").
Read full review Page response in the admin center is acceptable- rarely are we waiting for data to load. Backup speeds seem fine, and restore speeds are OK considering it's likely pulling data from cold storage. It often takes 30-60 seconds for the restore to begin transferring files, but speeds are acceptable thereafter
Read full review Support Rating I've asked many levels of questions. From noob how-to-setup-my-server questions to ask for more IP addresses and help in getting them set up. They always respond swiftly and relevantly. Compared to other providers, you have to bounce a couple of times with different levels of support actually to land on someone who _understands_ your problem. Other providers, even if they are actively having downtime, their support will respond hours later. Not Linode/Akamai. They are always there for you. They promise this, and they do deliver.
Read full review We had an issue in my first year that took a long time to fix. The support guy was awesome, took screen shots, filled me in, was professional, but it just took so long. I do think that was an anomaly, but it certainly sticks out nonetheless. Beyond that, we've had pretty good support "relationships" with the reps. They're usually pretty prompt at getting back and quite knowledgeable. Just make sure you have your proxies updated, because that's always step 1!
Read full review In-Person Training They are very well knowledgeable. They conducted a two day training session and they explained each and everything.
Read full review Online Training We got kick started with an initial walkthrough along with some free credits. The initial walkthrough helped us to understand Linode's ecosystem and start our hands on with Linode. We tried out some apps from Marketplace initially with the free credits, which not only helped us understand Linode better, but also those apps. We had implemented many such apps to our customers with Linode
Read full review As an administrator, if I had a user who needed additional training, it was available. As an Administrator, the product was so easy I didn't need it
Read full review Implementation Rating We're a small organization. The implementation of our Linode solution was trivial. Once I justified a cloud server to my bosses over a co-location -- the co-lo wasn't as fast as our linode server in load tests -- it was a matter of moving one Linux implementation to another. Trivial.
Read full review Implementation from cloud ranger to Druva Data Resiliency Cloud platform was a seamless integration experience to upgrade the policies and license for continual backup/recovery support. This may be one of the best "set it and forget it" apps for backup solutions, that also allow notifications for failures etc...
Read full review Alternatives Considered We switched to Linode from
Namecheap due to poor uptime, and never had any issues with stability ever again after switching. We also cut our costs in half by switching. We compared Linode to
DigitalOcean and
Vultr , with the primary factor that caused us to go with Linode initially being their documentation. After using Linode for 3 years, their amazing support is another reason why we wouldn't consider anyone else at this point.
Read full review When evaluating Druva Data Resiliency Cloud, we compared it against several market leaders. After extensive testing, we confirmed that Druva Data Resiliency Cloud stacks up well against these products due to the following features: Ease of use Simple to setup & configure Eliminates up front cost, commitment and capacity planning Immutable by default Flexible configuration options Single management interface
Read full review Scalability Although I use only a fraction of their product offerings, the total set makes scalability an easy goal to shoot for. As I said, I have a few customers that use the services my Linode provides...and I like it that way. However, should I need to scale up, I can...without incurring any more cost than I need to.
Read full review We started very small with this product, only backing up key officers' laptops. After our initial experience, we found it very easy to scale up the product to all company laptops and expand into file servers, VMWare servers, and other production-level data, like Office 365 and Teams. We found the product very easy to scale while remaining intuitive and efficient to use.
