Alfresco Content Services
If you have regulatory or business needs that require saving email into Alfresco and you are using Outlook for Mac, you may need to perform significant customization to make it work. Additionally, if you will have users that will be members to a large numbers of sites over time, you need to thoroughly explore what functionality will be degraded or lost and how to mitigate the impact. Other than these two scenarios, I cannot think of any scenarios where Alfresco would not be well suited to an organization's needs.

There is really no scenario where WordPress would not be well suited. I think that, in today's day and age, everyone should have at least a little bit of website design and experience with WordPress as it's used in almost every industry out there. Even if you don't work for any industry, you can have a personal website about yourself.

Pros
Alfresco Content Services
- Integration with other applications, namely Drupal and Moodle, was simple and works beautifully.
- The UI is intuitive, clean, and friendly. Users have required little training for basic functionality.
- We have been pleased with the overall system performance of Alfresco Enterprise Content Management.

- Ease of use: once a site is built using [WordPress], it is easy to make content updates. Usually, you can just copy/paste your content into a simple text editor (similar to what you would see in a word processor) within WordPress and the content will look great on the frontend of the site.
- Plugins: Since [WordPress] is an industry standard CMS (content management system), most plugins are available and easy to use within WP.
- Customizability: [WordPress] is great out of the box, but you can use certain page builders that allow further customizability at the page-level.

- Requires constant updates - as expected with any platform, WordPress requires constant updates - of its core files, any themes, and any plugins; which occasionally can cause issues with the overall design of your site
- Lacks security - This is not just a WordPress issue, but an issue with individual plugins as well, but by default WordPress lacks basic security measures that would protect your site from hackers. Installing a security plugin is a MUST on WordPress
- Over-customizable - It can be easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer number of themes, plugins, and options in the WordPress menu. This is not something that needs to be changed, just can take some time to work through and understand.

As per the current market and the line of products that are available for content and document management system, Alfresco is a very good option compared to other systems in terms of features and cost. Plus the community support is great. Also since the product is open source, it can be extended or understood in a better way.

My rating is based on the knowledge I have of the community that WordPress has had built around it for years now. It's as solid as it comes when you talk about community involvement and expansion. There's no other CMS out there that can match-up with it, hands down.

Alfresco Content Services' UI has never been its strength from the beginning. Therefore, rating it from a usability standpoint, I will not rank it high. However, Alfresco Content Services can easily be integrated with any application and leveraged as a backend CMS or DM system. With the new Angular-based UI approach, it's very much possible to create custom UI on top of it as required.

The quality of WordPress and ease of use is not comparable to other platforms. It's ideal that WordPress can be managed from any computer and mobile device since it's browser-based. Often with new software, I find there to be a significant steep learning curve; however, with WordPress it's relatively intuitive and there's plenty of available tutorials.

Anyone can visit WordPress.org and download a fully functional copy of WordPress free of charge. Additionally, WordPress is offered to users as open-source software, which means that anyone can customize the code to create new applications and make these available to other WordPress users.

Mostly, any performance issues have to do with using too many plugins and these can sometimes slow down the overall performance of your site. It is very tempting to start adding lots of plugins to your WordPress site, however, as there are thousands of great plugins to choose from and so many of them help you do amazing things on your site.If you begin to notice performance issues with your WordPress site (e.g. pages being slow to load), there are ways to optimize the performance of your site, but this requires learning the process. WordPress users can learn how to optimize their WordPress sites by downloading the WPTrainMe WordPress training plugin (WPTrainMe.com) and going through the detailed step-by-step WordPress optimization tutorials.

There are forums for WordPress along with the Subreddit. I understand that this is an open-source product so they don't have a company supported helpline (which isn't feasible). It is a bit of a pain trying to Google the right solution for getting help from other experts. However, the support is pretty adequate as there are plenty of resources out there.

Varies by the person providing training. High marks as it's incredibly easy to find experienced individuals in your community to provide training on any aspect of WordPress from content marketing, SEO, plugin development, theme design, etc. Less than 10 though as the training is community based and expectations for a session you find may fall short.

WordPress is not a great solution if you have:1) A larger site with performance / availability requirements.2) Multiple types of content you want to share - each with its own underlying data structure.3) Multiple sites you need to manage. For very small sites where these needs are not paramount, WordPress is a decent solution

All software has some pros and some cons. Alfresco has some good pluses, and suits our environment very well. It fit perfectly in the place that we are working on. That is why we decided to go with this software. Overall, the kind of content management that needs to be done in an organization is what would determine which software to use.

Wix was considered but was then rejected once we realized we could not self-host. WordPress allows self-hosting, while Wix does not.Joomla was considered but required much more technical experience on behalf of the people who would be posting content. WordPress is much easier for people who just need to get information out there to use. There is basically no learning curve.Drupal has a small following for themes, as is the add-on market. It's not great for basic sites and blogs, so while we were considering it we found WordPress to be better in most of these regards. There is also a kind-of-steep learning curve to Drupal.

WordPress is completely scalable. You can get started immediately with a very simple "out-of-the box" WordPress installation and then add whatever functionality you need as and when you need it, and continue expanding. Often we will create various WordPress sites on the same domain to handle different aspects of our strategy (e.g. one site for the sales pages, product information and/or a marketing blog, another for delivering products securely through a private membership site, and another for running an affiliate program or other application), and then ties all of these sites together using a common theme and links on each of the site's menus.Additionally, WordPress offers a multisite function that allows organizations and institutions to manage networks of sites managed by separate individual site owners, but centrally administered by the parent organization. You can also expand WordPress into a social networking or community site, forums, etc.The same scalability applies to web design. You can start with a simple design and then scale things up to display sites with amazing visual features, including animations and video effects, sliding images and animated product image galleries, elements that appear and fade from visitor browsers, etc.The scaling possibilities of WordPress are truly endless.

- No longer losing important documents - Previously with paper files things would go missing and those could be costly reports/assessments.
- Ability to secure documents and provide access to only those who should be allowed to see that content
