It seems to handle a large number and volume of documents. However, if you want to deviate from the 'Out of the box' experience, you will need to determine how much customization would be required and how that would be implemented. (Full blown custom UI, dashlets, java programming, scripting, etc)

Zoho CRM is a great CRM for organizations of all sizes. It's best used as a tool to organize and communicate with clients and prospective clients. Our sales staff uses it on a daily basis to continuously keep notes on their communication with clients during the sales process.At times, it feels like Zoho CRM is trying to offer too much and it can be overwhelming if trying to use all features and capabilities. It's better to focus on a handful of features and get your organization using those features on a consistent basis than trying to incorporate everything that Zoho can do

Pros

  • Document Management - The ability to store documents, manage custom aspects and metadata. Plus full control over versioning of documents with the ability to check in and out.
  • Custom API's - Alfresco supports multiple API's both internal and external and pretty much allows you to customize and integrate with any application
  • Searching - Lucene and SOLR which are integreated into Alfresco offer a multitude of ways to find documents/folders.
  • Auditing - They have a fairly powerful (although somewhat confusing) auditing system that lets you audit almost any action or service.

  • Links all companies to their Parent Companies, which for our industry, is a big deal.
  • We like how we can customize any report, field, smart rule, dashboard, etc.
  • It is extremely simple to export any information we need.

  • Using YUI (Yahoo User Interface) for id's makes my job in Quality Assurance tough.

  • I do wish it was a bit "smarter" that it could sense duplicate entries and simply update fields when it recognizes a dupe.
  • I wish it had an easier integration with our marketing platform, Hubspot.
  • I wish there was a way to mass update information, via spreadsheet upload, WITHOUT having the Zoho ID.

We went through an exhaustive process doing this evaluation and in the process took the time to really understand the objectives and requirements of all groups within the organization. Now that the system is in place it needs to be used and refined over a long period to time in order to get the full value. As a result you need to consider the long-term and renewal knowing that the system will get better the more you use it.

Zoho CRM is extremely intuitive and allows users complete visibility of sales data through reports/analytics. The platform has wide native integration with other cloud-based business solutions. But, it's fairly simple to write scripts with their publicly available API.

- Alfresco provides more capabilities by leveraging open source components. The core architecture itself is JCR compliant which gives easy options for future migrations.- The PDF rendition in Alfresco comes with LibreOffice at no additional cost. - Alfresco support integrations using common industry standards like CMIS, REST, CIFS, FTP, WebDAV, SharePoint Protocol etc.- Workflow development much easier in Alfresco.
