My experience with Alteryx was very specific. We had a targeted goal and knew the precise data we wanted to work with. Alteryx is a fantastic tool if you already have data, want additional data to merge with for ultimately taking action or making assessments. In other words, Alteryx is a fantastic data scientist tool to make data-based business decisions. But to be most effective, first you need to know what data you have, what data you want to find/incorporate and what the goal of the exercise is.

Likelihood to Renew

Alteryx Analytics6.5
Based on 14 answers
Alteryx has become integral to my job and to the expectation of upper management. They have now become accustomed to the lightening quick turnaround that Alteryx can provide. Not renewing Alteryx would take our department, and me, back to what would seem like the dark ages. Additionally, Alteryx (the company) is very aggressive in improving and upgrading Alteryx (the program) on a continual basis. It is very clear that they are in constant search for new features, capabilities and improvements. They do not rest on their laurels.

To me Jedox deserves 10/10 because it is a consistent one-in-all platform with a modern look and feel. It is intuitive to use and allows you to make intuitive applications integrating traditional business intelligence with performance management functionality. It certainly has a short
learning curve, especially for those that are familiar with MS Excel. An example: I've lost count but Jedox it is available in more than 25 languages. Another: Jedox does not require programming skills... it is developed to be used by the business.

Reliability and Availability

I use many programs and compared to others, Alteryx virtually never goes down, freezes up or gives an application error. Over a 4 year time period that I have used this program, any of these may have happened 3 times. It is an incredibly stable program that I feel completely confident in.

Jedox has
very few bugs. Reports are available through an Excel add-in, the web and/or
mobile device (IOS/Android). In my opinion, availability also means high
performance, not having to wait for the system to give you the required reports,
analysis, dashboards instantly.

Implementation

Alteryx Analytics10.0
Based on 1 answer
There is really not much to it (the installation, that is). Once you get it installed, along with any of the add-ons (demographics, R, etc.), you are up and running almost immediately. There is really no additional setup. You can immediately begin blending data, running demographics, performing spatial queries, running predictive analysis, etc. And for many of these functions, the learning curve is quite easy.

Jedox goed beyond traditional BI. That means that it is more important to pick an implementation partner that understands your business. A partner that can anticipate your next requirements. Using the performance management functionality of Jedox, integrating BI with forecasting, workflow, planning takes the solution closer to key (decision) making processes. People do not only use Jedox for insight, reporting, dashboards and analytics but to share expectations and comments to better drive the business. This kind of rich functionality requires a very good functional design before you implement it. That is, if you want to benefit fully what it has to offer. Technically implementing Jedox is relatively easy. In fact, according thousands of business users that participate in the yearly Business Application Research Centre (BARC) Survey, it is the best do-it-yourself BI/performance management system on the market

Breadth of Deployment

Our company kept it contained in the marketing department. Other departments may not understand it.

Jedox can and is applied for a whole range of applications throughout the company or organization. Typically the number of users rises as the applications grow in size/ functionality and number

Alternatives Considered

SAS is great and without it a lot of businesses would be out of business but Alteryx allows a much more user friendly interface and minimal code is needed. I think SQL was the only code I really needed when using Alteryx. R has been introduced within Alteryx and now it can be used for regressions and statistical analyses. (Great idea by the way Alteryx) Tableau as well has been introduced within Alteryx if I'm not mistaken so now within one program, you can manipulate your data, run a regression and build a model, and then present your findings in a very professional, interactive manner.

Jedox Base which has been removed from the market used to be a free option in the in-memory database space capable of write back/modelling. Now the company wants to move in the "Enterprise" space but the product doesn't have the required scalability and is still running on outdated open source server technologies.

ETL functionality with integration to relational database systems, such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL and links them through a JDBC interface. Users may also extract further data from flat files or XML files, web services, and LDAP systems. Jedox ETL may be integrated with other software applications using a SOAP-based web service interface. Apart from the data import in Jedox, the ETL module also supports drill-through from the OLAP database to data records in the source systems. All in all though, ETL is much more end user oriented in newer solutions like Power Query and Acterys Connectors

Scalability is often another word for speed. Given enough data, enough users or enough calculations, the tool becomes slower and slower. You will find that Jedox has a very high performance that can even be increased by the use of grafical cards. Other thaen that it does not only offer BI (looking back based on historical ERP data) but also allows you to look forward through integrated budgetting, planning, forecasting, workflow and collaboration. Not easy to find a tool that can support so much business functionality. So, also pretty scalable in that respect.
