Well suited for smaller organizations that want to centralize many systems. Smaller organizations will have less constituents to manage and fewer events (our organization has 100,000+ constituents, daily programs/events, and a large donor base). Many areas within Altru are not updated to be functional for 2020. Because of this, we do not use the merchandising feature, the volunteer portal, or marketing communications. It does a little bit of everything "okay enough" to be better than having separate systems. It's restrictive in many areas, but being able to do SO much in one database outweighs the negatives! It is 100% necessary to have a data manager who spends all of their time in Altru doing data cleanup, researching and writing policies and procedures, training new users, keeping staff up-to-date on new processes, creating queries and running reports, creating workarounds for "unfixable" issues within the database.

Great for a donor management system. Keeps data accessible, and reports are fairly easy to pull. Sometimes users have confusion on which reports they are trying to get. So much information, so many options - pros and cons. If you have experienced advancement personnel and a designated database administrator, this is an awesome program that can provide so much detail.

- Query - RE NXT has endless opportunities for reporting with it's Query function.

- Consistency of access. The number of times when connectivity (to the database view specifically) has been painfully slow is almost too high to count.
- Current features. Blackbaud is still building out lots of functionality, so there are many fields that you can't "filter" or sort on, and many database administration/management functions that cannot be done in the beautiful web view yet, which is frustrating.
- It's not fully compatible with RE7, in that certain fields have been renamed and certain fields are now now better than others for inputting certain data points. An adjustment in data entry and reporting may be required depending on how your organization has been using these fields, including changing historical data in order to make the best use of the powerful analytics tools.

Raiser's Edge paired with its web-based NXT platform offer a very simple and easy-to-use service for creating and building relationships with a large constituent base. Compared to other similar services, the functionality that this software offers integrates well into the structure of our organization. It offers a variety of user freedom and doesn't create unnecessary obligations by requiring to use certain parts of the software at all, and there is almost always a way to use a part of it in several ways

The only reason I cannot give a 10 is because like all web based products, internet connection is required and that is not something that can be counted on 100% of the time. When the internet connection is stable, I have had little to no issues using Raiser's Edge.

NXT itself is a pretty simple interface, and is great for front-line fundraisers to be able to look up info and run some simple "reports"/analysis. It's very quick and intuitive, but the back-end attached to it (RE 7.96) may have connectivity issues from time to time. NXT itself, though, is simple enough that issues are rare.

They are always available and very knowledgable. Many times I am able to come up with a solution before they've finished troubleshooting just by having talked through it with them. I really appreciate the Chat feature to answer simple questions in a timely fashion. The training I received was top notch and very detailed.

I love the chat feature because I can access it easily and continue working on other things while I am waiting. The responses are timely and they are good at following up via email if necessary or escalating the issue. I love being able to access my ticket online to see the status or add to the case also

Raiser's Edge generally has excellent training, and NXT is no exception. Trainers are energetic, enthusiastic, patient and often will stay behind after to help you with specific tasks and answer organization-specific questions. They are their to help and it shows. They also often encourage participants to share solutions with each other--it's always nice to know how other organizations do things and see if any tricks others have learned along the way work for you, and conversely share your tips and tricks with others

Raiser's Edge has really good training. Some classes should be geared to the user's experience so more advanced users can by pass some of the newer users questions. But I like that the instructors take time for the new users.

We adopted NXT when our fundraising department was small, so rolling it out to our officers has been seamless. It took 6-12 months to settle on how to use it, and now have established an in-house users' guide specifying what fields are important. We have had good response from Blackbaud tech support when we have needed it. We are less satisfied with the responses to contractual and billing questions related to implementation.

We switched from Raisers Edge in 2012 due to the need to have all processes in one database. Group Sales/Rentals had to use a separate database for their sales than the Members and Donors department. We also could not sell tickets for events and programs in one space. Being able to have all of these in one database is why we chose Altru.

The only other similar product I have used is Education Edge in a non-profit secondary school setting. We also used Financial Edge and Raiser's Edge there where all systems were operating simultaneously. It was a great way to approach the different arenas of the organization while utilizing the same system platforms. We are currently implementing AcademicWorks and I will soon be able to comment on its functionality and usage.

Features such as constituent mapping and easily accessible actions allow for more in-depth analysis of existing constituents. The future ability to manipulate soft-credits and customize reporting dashboards will make NXT even more attractive to our fundraisers and executives. It's great to see that the software is evolving.

- When we moved to include NXT, we actually started saving money because our contract was renegotiated and several of the items we had to pay additional monies for were included in NXT.
- We've also have a stronger ROI because of the wealth information that is right at the hands of our officers, including ask amounts.
