Amazon Chime is a superior alternative to other free video conference/conference call programs. The call and video quality are great, and you can have multiple participants on both video and call. It's well suited for an organization that wants an affordable option for video and conference calls, but may not be appropriate for organizations with limited budgets or those who do very little conferencing.

BlueJeans

Overall, BlueJeans got the job done. It was rarely ever down and making a call was fairly straightforward. It had an ability to set up a speed dial to a meeting ID from a room system which was handy. We used it for a weekly 15 minute stand up meeting to connect the Seattle and NY teams every Monday and it worked well most of the time.

  • The screen sharing aspect of Chime is very useful when attempting to demonstrate functionality to our remote users.
  • Using Chime as an instant messaging app between our workforce is extremely helpful.
  • It is quite simple to send an invite and have Outlook manage the appointment. Then Chime automatically calls you when the appointment is about to start.

  • Integrates well into the business environment, it is fully integrated into Office 365 which has helped reduce admin overhead for our teams.
  • The audio quality with the introduction of the Dolby Audio is fantastic.
  • Using the system is very simple and straightforward which really helped with the adoption process and minimises ongoing end user support.

  • One thing that I liked better about GoToMeeting was the separation of the chat box from the main screen. It's important to be able to see the chat box while I'm presenting, but the way it's set up on BlueJeans, it's combined with the main screen and so it's quite inconvenient. Another problem with this is that if I'm sharing my screen for presenting, when I look at the chats-- which would even include private chats-- they show up for everyone to see. This is a major flaw. The chat box should be separate.
  • I have recurring meetings, with meeting numbers, which I would like to send out reminders of to team members. In version 1 of BlueJeans, I could copy and paste those. In the current version (2), I cannot; I have to memorize and type them in manually to my reminder messages. For my permanent person meeting number, I can copy it easily. However, this is not possible with other meeting IDs. Why would they make the meeting numbers not possible to copy?
  • Similarly, in version 1, after the meeting, I could copy the chat box, which I kept with the meeting's presentation and meeting minutes for recordkeeping. The chats could also remind me who said what in the meeting for the purpose of writing my meeting minutes. With version 2, chat is no longer copiable, so I have to use multiple screenshots to get all the chats -- what a pain.
  • Scheduling meetings is not convenient. It forces me to a web page to do so.

We are heavily invested in another platform. However the features are not quite the same as BlueJeans. If they do become more like BlueJeans (especially the video sharing), then our need for BlueJeans would significantly decrease. An even better option would be if they bought BlueJeans...

Joining a meeting couldn't be simpler. Whether through a "Join Meeting" click of the mouse in your email invite, opening up in your web browser and you're in the meeting (after picking options like using both audio and video or audio only). Or starting up as moderator through the Dolby base station unit in our conference room, with entering a meeting ID and password and you're good to go, it is so simple and easy. Gone are the days of low-rent FaceTime calls or using systems online where the participants had to download this plugin or that driver, or have the latest versions of Flash, with clients getting frustrated with it all.

Some customer service reps are great, but I find the majority are not really giving you service, they are not solving the problems and issues can go on for weeks. It is very frustrating and has made me question my decision to stay with them. Once again, there are some great ones that actually follow up when they say they will and have concrete answers, even if they say they are still researching, at least I know someone is on it.

The fact that I normally get a response within the hour to my tickets, and can reach out to our rep via slack during normal business hours has been great. this has been far above what we have gotten from other vendors and has really made the transition a lot easier

With the exception of a few hiccups we had a pretty good experience rolling out bluejeans. user adoption was really quick as it integrated into their gsuite, and we pushed the chrome extension via google admin and the desktop app via JAMF. the training ahead of the rollout provided by bluejeans was kinda boring and pretty unnecessary as the system is very easy to use, and most users opted to skip the training

Amazon Chime WILL become an industry leader. Amazon is still behind WebEx and is gaining ground on Microsoft. The advantage Microsoft will have is the ability to embed in organizations through Office, and have that advantage over WebEx as well. We selected Amazon Chime as another platform because it aided in our support from the AWS Web Services Support Team.

I have used Zoom. The majority of the people in my company use it. I continue to stick with BlueJeans because of the ease of use. I do like that Zoom allows any user to have a free account they can use - each call has a 30-minute time limit - but this opens it up for those not financially in a place to spend more to use it. I have had some people complain that BlueJeans video cuts their head off - that on Zoom they look normal but something about BlueJeans causes them to look too close to the camera and they have to move far away.

  • First off, I just want to say that there were quite a few things on that previous page that I didn't know about! What is Whiteboard? Polling? Maybe I haven't been reading my emails from Blue Jeans very closely but I was completely unaware of these features.
  • It has allowed us to carry out our grant-funded project and assessment of it. Of course this isn't the only software that would have allowed us to complete our work, but it was recommended to us by someone and we decided to give it a go.
  • For virtual meetings, it has definitely allowed our research group to stay on top of projects. Some of our team members are quite mobile and are frequently in other states so it has kept us working on projects whereas in the past (the 2000s??) this would not have been possible.
