Likelihood to Recommend

Amazon Chime

I would LOVE to be able to recommend Amazon Chime but as an enterprise solution is simply is not there. It is perfect for small business or office settings who do not rely on conferencing as a major function of their business. If your organization is constantly relying on conferencing there are other market leaders. Amazon is a leader in so many ways, [with] conferencing they are still playing catch up, but they will get there.

Concord

Suitable:- Simple contract management, especially bulk contract management. Less Appropriate:- Larger entities. Though, based on their price + features, I don't think they're focusing on the > 500 employee organizations.

Pros

  • Connecting via the computer - this easy and so simple, just a couple of clicks.
  • Using multiple technologies - Amazon Chime also allows you to use a phone for dial-in audio. I enjoy this as my computer microphone and speakers are not the best sometimes.
  • Scheduling meetings - this is such an easy function for one time meetings or recurring.

  • Automated templates are incredibly easy to implement. Concord also does, for the most part, very well at keeping formatting when uploading documents in Word. The only downside is if you use formulas (naming convention for contracts), if you do not copy + paste as values before uploading then it will give the contract the name of the formula.

Cons

  • Amazon Chime can be invasive as it pops up on your computer one minute or so before your meeting time.
  • Screen sharing - this isn't a real con as the screen sharing is great, it's at times just really small and hard to view when there are a handful of people on the call.
  • Log in - this can sometimes be a challenge but [it's] not too bad.

  • User management has been and still is, a pain point for us. We operate over a dozen entities and for the most part, anyone with access to Concord on our team has the same permissions across all entities. We must manage users one-by-one so onboarding + offboarding can be tedious.
  • The analytics are basic. I wish we could slice and dice and say "Show me only contracts tagged with X tag".

Alternatives Considered

Amazon Chime WILL become an industry leader. Amazon is still behind WebEx and is gaining ground on Microsoft. The advantage Microsoft will have is the ability to embed in organizations through Office, and have that advantage over WebEx as well. We selected Amazon Chime as another platform because it aided in our support from the AWS Web Services Support Team.

Return on Investment

  • Positive - easy communication with the chat room feature for all teams (15+) throughout our campus.
  • Positive - user-friendly and easy to navigate so we weren't hindered with the transition.
  • Positive - Amazon Chime allows you to call in via the phone if a computer is not available. We are always on the go and phones are all that are available.

  • Since our implementation, I am saving a few hours a month in managing our IC contracts.
  • When people have questions about contracts, now it's clear "Hey, look in Concord" versus "Hey, does John or Sally have this contract?".
