Anaconda

Anaconda is great for academic and private organizations that cannot afford more expensive Python/R package managers. Also, it is more appropriate for intermediate to advanced Python users--Anaconda can be somewhat frustrating for beginners, as it takes some practice to get comfortable with the workflow. I find it particularly useful for working in teams, because if everyone uses the same package manager, it is easier to troubleshoot issues and makes for reproducible research. For wealthier organizations, a premium package management system (with tech support) would be ideal. Anaconda is also great for people working independently on code development.

RStudio

RStudio products are great for technical teams / team members. The integration of both R and python in a single product allows developers to make use of their preferred language for data analysis. Those team members who are analytical but do not have a technical background won't be able to fully use the products; for them it's better to have a different tool for exploratory analysis and BI.

Pros

Anaconda

  • First of all it is very easy to install and it is user friendly. You just download a Anaconda from its official site and you can start using it for coding (I usually code using Jupiter Notebook) Compared to Pycharm it is easier navigate in Anaconda(Jupiter Notebook)
  • For me it is a best environment to use if I have small projects. Jupiter Notebook is running tasks much faster compared to Pycharm and other IDE's.
  • In my work I usually need different scientific packages that are not commonly used. As Anaconda have thousands of libraries it helps me making my job easier

RStudio

  • Excellent integration of both R and Python IDEs in one.
  • Simple publishing of dashboards and applications from RStudio IDE to RStudio Connect.
  • Integration of package management with projects to support collaboration.
  • Excellent contributors to the R Open Source community, really invested in its health.
  • Support integration with Enterprise AD environments for security.

Cons

Anaconda

  • Needs to be optimized to consume less RAM on machines
  • It is a great tool for the development of small projects but not for large projects
  • Anaconda could have more documentation translated into other languages, facilitating the entry of users from non-English-speaking countries

RStudio

  • Management of some deeper aspects of the platform is not a so straight-forward, especially when it comes to deal to customization (connections, packages management...).
  • Administration console may be a bit richer, making available of some operations that you may be interested on doing by user interface and not by shell.
  • Deploying apps is still a bit problematic for some particular (rare!) packages, make it easier to install packages not from the CRAN.

It's really good at data processing, but needs to grow more in publishing in a way that a non-programmer can interact with. It also introduces confusion for programmers that are familiar with normal Python processes which are slightly different in Anaconda such as virtualenvs.

Rstudio is my go - to language for anything involving analysis. It has far more capabilities for data analysis than Python (in my opinion). New packages for novel analytical techniques are often published. Rstudio continues to implement great updates every few months as well. Finally, I really like that I can write LateX documents in Rstudio and integrate R code into them.

I think it's a quick and easy to use tool. The IDE is very intuitive and easy to adapt to. You do not need to learn a lot of things to use this tool. Any programmer and a person with knowledge or R can quick use this tool without issues.

Anaconda provides fast support, and a large number of users moderate its online community. This enables any questions you may have to be answered in a timely fashion, regardless of the topic. The fact that it is based in a Python environment only adds to the size of the online community.

Since R is trendy among statisticians, you can find lots of help from the data science/ stats communities. If you need help with anything related to RStudio or R, google it or search on StackOverflow, you might easily find the solution that you are looking for.

Alternatives Considered

Anaconda

ANACONDA VS Alteryx Analytics: Even though I find Alteryx to be an excellent tool for managing extremely massive data, Anaconda is much better and easy for analytics.Anaconda VS. MicroStrategy Analytics: Compared with Anaconda, MicroStrategy Analytics is very difficult to use and counter-intuitiveAnaconda VS. Power BI For Office 365: One of the main advantages of BI for Office 364 is its capacity to data connectivity. However, it's very hard to edit data connections, once BI for Office is deployed in other platforms

RStudio

Before implementing RStudio, our team struggling with coding in R. We tried to implement Visual Studio and Jupyter as alternatives to RStudio. But Jupyter was found to be not user friendly for our end-user and Visual Studio enterprise was not that great. We have not evaluated any other products available.

Return on Investment

Anaconda

  • We can get any new employee set-up on Python for Machine learning in minutes, without any assistance from IT. That's real $ savings.
  • We started to experiment with Machine Learning a lot more, which leads to creating new projects which can have a tremendous impact on the business.

RStudio

  • RStudio has allowed us to rapidly build and deploy functional Shiny applications that execute underlying code. In many cases, users don't realize they are running R under the hood.
  • Allowed us to integrate Python code and R code in a single application/visualization.
