AnyMeeting

AnyMeeting is useful for presenting educational or training webinars to prospects, clients, and internal employees. It is also good for phone/web conferences with small groups where sharing a PowerPoint or screenshare would be useful.

GoToWebinar

GoTo is good for:
  • Running live webinars
  • Webinars with one speaker
  • Webinars with multiple speakers on-site
  • Webinars that need to sync with Marketo
GoTo is not so good for:
  • Running a live webinar from a recording
  • Webinars with multiple speakers off-site
  • Production-quality recordings of webinars
  • Training
GoTo has separate platforms for one-on-one or smaller-scale meetings (GoToMeeting) and for training (GoToTraining). I have had a lot of success with GoToMeeting and have not used GoToTraining, but between the three of them, they have a fairly solid solution set. While it is missing the bells and whistles, it has basic functionality to meet your needs.

Pros

  • Easy for the audience to log on and participate via chat
  • Automatically records the session, in case you forget
  • Ability to upload slides and pre-load audience polls

  • Screen sharing
  • Setting up meetings
  • Easy and straight forward user interface

Cons

  • It's great that webinar attendees can choose to attend online or dial in by phone, but it is not helpful at all that Anymeeting announces the number of people dialing in by phone. If there are 25 people attending a webinar online while 1 person calls in on the phone, that person will hear an automatic announcement that currently there are no other attendees online.
  • It is great that the default webinar setting is for it to be recorded, but I wish there was no lag between the act of going live and the recording starting.

  • Allow multiple people to share their screen
  • Allow attendees to share their webcam
  • Allow users to send attachments

It works well, and does what it needs to, but there are a few flaws like the sound isn't great. There are fancier, prettier more expensive products that one could use, but this one does the job almost as well. Good value for the money.

Our largest issue with GoTo have been the limitations on recording and using recordings to host a webinar, and the biggest of those is the ability to record. We have had most of our webinars recorded successfully, but when it failed to save, it failed in a big way. Their customer service team was there to help, but they were unable to truly fix the problem. There are, of course, other providers, but as we are still seeing where hosted webinars fit in our marketing strategy, cost is an important factor. Since our company already uses GoToMeeting, it makes more sense for us to stay with the entire suite of products, especially while we are testing the strategy as a whole.

The only time we have had to contact support, about installation on a Mac, the issue was resolved in short order

Alternatives Considered

They are actually really similar in functionality and features. If I were looking for an ad-free option for remote conferencing with high definition video I would choose GoToMeeting. But for my team where it isn't necessary to remove the ads, or have video available AnyMeeting meets our needs better than anything else

iLinc has inferior VoiP and we ended up paying for a conference line backup for our customers - got pricey. Adobe has a large learning curve - both for administrators and presenters, and isn't the most user-friendly for attendees either.

Return on Investment

  • Within our unit, we don't actually need to have remote conferences with clients or company big-wigs which would be the only reason we would need to purchase a more professional conferencing service. AnyMeetings' ad-supported services free up money for our team that we are then able to allocate to other software suites that are crucial to us.

  • Our webinars have helped to drive traffic to our site, and we have acquired leads through their ongoing success.
  • GoTo's sync with Marketo has improved our reporting capabilities on the efficacy of webinars as a marketing device.
