More suitable for complex integration scenarios as it supports Java code too. Need to have an experienced Mulesoft developer available with some Java background.

WSO2 Enterprise Service Bus

WSO2 ESB is an awesome product for companies looking to venture into the world of SOA with an ESB. They have a lot of other products too that can work really well with their carbon infrastructure. The interface is simple for deploying and managing proxy services. You can also write custom modules within the ESB using Java with IDE like Eclipse

Pros

  • Supports wide range of systems for the integrations
  • Support API development and web service implementations to integrate homegrown systems too.
  • Cloud deployment and monitoring make it easy to handle post production
  • Pricing is a plus point while comparing it to others in market

  • It's really easy to install for a quick evaluation.
  • Open source. This is a must in our company.
  • It's highly scalable. Adding computing nodes is really straightforward.
  • Good product support, quick and effective.

Cons

  • The license is very expensive (for a big organization, it is very recommended to have an Enterprise License)
  • In a data flow, only one object contains all activities data (input/output)
  • Sometimes we have to write xml because the graphical designer of flows is not responsive.

  • WSO2 ESB has a lot of nice GUI elements and some for monitoring services. I think it could do away with them. The documentation and tutorials can be more updated with their product version.
  • I think support could be lot better in terms of their response times.

Lack of auto-restart built-in capabilities. In case of running out of memory there are no built-in methods to recover from a crash, just for example, Oracle WebLogic Node Manager.

It is a powerful tool with smart intelligence. The drag and drop feature makes my work easy. The tool has great connecting support which is the best reason to use the tool on a daily basis. Powerful functionality with designing and implementing APIs. Hosted on public IP.

I have recently been using Mule ESB. I also found their product to be solid. I like how you can develop message mediation rules in Mule Eclipse IDE. They have a lot of features to build services with less custom development.
