I would think for basic level app activity, this would be a great software. For more complex level data, I don't think this platform serves as well as others out there that are available

HubSpot is great for businesses seeking to accelerate growth and require an easy way to manage data, marketing and sales in one place.However, some versions of HubSpot may be too expensive for a start-up, so there are packages such as free and basic to support them. The key to getting value from HubSpot as the technology platform is understanding the value of an inbound marketing and sales approach. This may mean you need to pivot some of your processes to become more buyer-focused, which will deliver you a greater business benefit in any case!

Pros

  • The visuals in the platform are easy to read and understand and make it simple to understand the data you are looking at.
  • I find that the data in App Annie is very reliable in terms of the number of downloads we see on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • It gives me the ability to integrate the data here with other analytics and provide viewers and consumers good solid information on our performance.

Cons

  • I do think there are quite a few side bar options when you first login to the software. I'd like to see the features maybe more condensed.
  • For us, it would be super useful to see more zip code or county level data in the software.
  • I would like to see a PDF version offered in the export options. It would make the presentation of the chart data more appealing.

Well the fact that the freemium features are all that I need right now, I will most definitely continue to use it on a daily basis. I might upgrade to the pro version in the future if I need more data than what I am getting now. But for now it works great for what I need.

HubSpot is so easy to use. It's very rare for me to put in a support ticket. I can design simple landing pages, email and campaign myself with quick turn-around time.

With all the new features in HubSpot, the system can get a tad slow sometimes... That said, most of the time it is lightning fast and I have no problems. Because most of the integrations are API, they silently work in the background. I have not had trouble with lag due to HubSpot integration

I had a pretty serious programming issue in my onboarding period. I called and got to someone within 10 minutes. Their hold music was not elevator music, it was Andy Grammer's latest hits which made it seem like less time. They took note of the issue, tried what they knew, and then said they would work on the issue and be in touch soon. The issue was resolved within a day! And they were so pleasant to work with

I did the 2-day classroom at HubSpot's corporate office in Cambridge. First off, it was amazing to see their corporate office in general. They have such a cool office environment. But it was also great to have the ability to learn in a workshop format with other HubSpot users and meet my Account Manager/ Inbound Marketing Consultant in person.

I started the HubSpot Academy and I did the online classes to get inbound certified long before purchasing the platform. The format is pretty simple: watch videos, do some workshopping, and then take a test to become certified. The classes are very informative and generally do not take too long to complete. Also, part of your implementation fee includes an Inbound Marketing Consultant who helps set up your first campaigns.

If you are coming from a system such as WordPress, HubSpot can seem overly constraining. Realize that HubSpot is designed to put the power of a website into a non-programmer's hands. Your marketing people should be able to do pretty much everything, without resorting the technical staff.

Alternatives Considered

We use Google 360 and are able to do a much deeper dive into the activity we see on our apps. I think App Annie is a great starting point product, but for more in depth analytics, something like a Google 360 or Adobe might be better.

HubSpot is all encompassing with an amazing user interface. It's as simple as that.Update:We use so many tools that HubSpot has to offer. Before HubSpot, we were using an email provider with a separate service for landing pages. Not cool. Too many things were disconnected by too many different logins, and we couldn't keep track. HubSpot is not only a timesaver, but it keeps getting better and better as the years go by. I can't believe how much they invest in making their tools more customized for their users – and all from the customer's perspective. I have never had so much faith in a software, so much love for a company, and so much excitement for future releases. HubSpot is indeed all encompassing, and it's only going to get better and better. They are a trailblazer, and I look forward to seeing their future innovations!!

While HubSpot initially, seven years ago, seemed built for SMBs it appears they have scaled their solution for larger enterprises. I do not have experience sending out 10 million-plus emails per month so I don't know how HubSpot would handle that. However, I do know that some other marketing automation platforms have had trouble with such scale. As such, I suggest HubSpot have one of it's enterprise customers share data on the length of time it takes to send out 1 million emails. Are we talking minutes, hours or days? Then decide what's right for you based on your business needs.

Return on Investment

  • Since I'm not a purchaser of the product, only a user, I can't really speak to the ROI.
  • I do think it serves a purpose and we are able to get some usable data from it.
  • I think until we add other analytical software, this was a great starting point.

  • We get crazy amounts of leads. Offering downloadable content allows us to capture names and emails as prospective clients are interacting with what we produce. My team never had that capability before HubSpot.
  • We are able to nurture our leads easily. Sure, it takes a little while to set it up, but once the email followups are put in place, we are able to sit back and focus on other priorities while workflows nurture our leads. It's really exciting to see the interaction with those emails and change them as needed.
  • We launched our website Monday - today is Friday. Since then, we have already seen triple the leads come in (and good quality ones!!) from the restructure. The website add-on was one of the best decisions in my career to date.
