The Zenoss Cloud from Zenoss in Austin, Texas is an infrastructure monitoring and cloud operation analytics platform.
AppDynamics is good in monitoring complex, high-performance, and crucial applications like cloud-native and enterprise setups. It quickly addresses performance issues in e-commerce and financial systems but for budget-conscious applications, a less complex APM tool may suffice. Small businesses may find AppDynamics costlier. Deciding on AppDynamics depends on weighing benefits against costs and ensuring expertise
Overall I would say that we have been very happy with Zenoss. It has been a great server monitoring tool. There are certain aspects that we would like to expand into, such as Capacity Planning, Network Performance Monitoring, and log analysis. We have coupled Zenoss logs with Splunk for external log management, but would like to start using some of the built-in analysis tools.
It costs a lot of money to use AppDynamics which can be difficult for many small businesses to implement.
Business transaction tracking is little slow.
It doesn't display all of the logs like Splunk does. We need to log into the servers or, if we have Splunk already installed, use it to perform proper log parsing.
AppDynamics has its own community site that includes forums and a knowledge base. On the forums, you can converse with other members of the community and ask technical questions as you have them. Though this forum isn’t filled with people there are active members for you to gain some valuable insights.
I have worked on many Cisco applications and I am very much positive about support from Cisco. The same type of support reputation has been maintained by Cisco in the case of AppDynamics, too. The AppDynamics suite itself is a very trustworthy monitoring application that I have seen, and I like the response sync time w.r.t. downtime when it occurs.
