It is well suited in videoconferences with few participants. It is less appropriate in videoconferences with more than four participants or webinars. In that case, I would recommend software with more functions. In our company, we use appear.in as a second option. We have a more robust software, but it does not allow simultaneous meetings. In that case, we use appear.in.

IBM B2B Cloud Services

We have just started to use IBM B2B Cloud Services within our department. We were looking for a cloud-based solution to manage all of our partner's B2B processes within a single interface. We did not want to have to go through the hassle of managing any sort of solution ourselves; thus, we came to the conclusion that a cloud-based solution would work best for our department. So far, we have found that the product has been reliable, and not having to worry about maintenance and patch cycles is always a good thing.

  • Very easy to use.
  • Very easy to create an account.
  • It has the same basic features as other robust programs.

  • Allow more participants online in the videoconference.

  • The learning curve is steep on this product. My group had to do a lot of training to feel like we were up to speed on the product.
  • I would definitely recommend some in-house training for employees about to use this product. This will help employees get the most out of the product for a better ROI.
  • The user interface could use a refresh. Seems to be a bit stale compared to a few other products we looked at.

We are using a larger tool suite that already includes video conferencing instead of our older approach of using different apps from different vendors.appear.in has a simple but great set of features but its pricing scheme is not as scalable as we really need in a 500+ employee company.

Alternatives Considered

It is a very simple tool. It can be accessed by all very fast. Sometimes we do more than one videoconference simultaneously and appear.in helps a lot as a second option, especially with few participants.

We went with IBM B2B Cloud Services because we felt that IBM has a very long track record of delivering enterprise-ready solutions to their customers. IBM professional services came in and clearly explained how they would help us integrate our current business process into the IBM B2B Cloud Services product. This gave us the confidence and trust to go with IBM over a lesser-known competitor.

  • Sometimes we do more than one videoconference simultaneously. Appear In helps a lot as a second option, especially with few participants.
