The possibilities are endless once you start looking at individual processes. You really start to question why you have previously implemented solution specific systems when workflows and apps can do the same job without the added expense. You are really only limited by your organisation's ability to develop apps and flows. We have a high contractor population in technology so building an in-house capability is somewhat restricted.

RedHorse CRM is not well suited for organizations that need full web access. It is not currently a SaaS application but can be used with Amazon and similar hosted servers.

Pros

  • Appian allows us to link systems together with data being automatically obtained from different areas of different databases. This has removed the requirement for the user to go to a screen and manually input data which then needs to be re-checked by a Supervisor.
  • Appian enables us to react quickly to an ever changing regulatory environment.
  • The re-useable components within Appian enable us to build and deploy new, straightforward, processes quickly.

  • Customer information management - retain complete information about the client, their company, social media conversations, product ownership and so on.
  • Sales process drive and automation - integrates with Constant Contact to provide marketing support for your sales team.
  • Customer support (Ticketing) - complete time and technology management. Know how many issues are arising and the response time to solutions. Create knowledge base as issues are resolved.
  • Integration to QuickBooks - Connects directly to QuickBooks in a manner that is solid and easy to use while maintaining security. Your sales and support team sees just what they need to see.

Cons

  • We haven't found the on-premise upgrade process straightforward. The versions seem to change fairly significantly and the installation guide isn't a good as it could be.
  • Appian doesn't seem as resilient as other applications. For example, a VMware server recently had a failure and automatically failed over to a secondary. Every application running on the server recovered without intervention, but Appian didn't and was unavailable for around 2 hours whilst we worked with Appian support to diagnose and fix the issue.
  • Lacking flexibility around proxy servers but this seems to have been resolved in version 17.3

  • Really RedHorse is so full featured that it has few areas that need improvement. One feature that is not present but will be addressed in the future is true SaaS implementations.

As analyst I participated in a developer boot camp. At times it was hard to keep up but most of the time it made sense. Trainer took the time to explain and slowed pace down to answer questions etc.

I was not involved in the initial analysis but I know Appian came close with Pegasystems in the intelligent business process management suite.

As a CRM systems provider for 25+ years we have worked with a number of CRM products but so far none have the complete feature set like RedHorse. Salesforce.com gets very expensive for clients very quickly even though it is a good product. MS Dynamics CRM is a reasonable system but is very complex and expensive to maintain and/or customize.RedHorse provides the best of both along with the ease of use and non-complex customization.
