Surely Appian is not a Site Development Tool. So we should avoid the use of a system for just UX development. We should look for process automation as much as we can mature the use cases.

Workfront

Workfront is well-suited for our ad agency business because projects can be outlined and managed appropriately through the necessary process. I could see Workfront working well for any business that utilizes a project management system and needs to stay organized. A developer in construction projects, or an interior designer could make use of this system nicely. Or a property management company could use the system to keep track of tenants and work orders, or a condo association for each unit's work issues or repair requests

  • Repeatable process. Once implemented in Appian, you have an automated process that will always work in the same way. No more dependencies on people remembering what needs to be done or how to do it.
  • Great integration with other applications. Appian allows you to integrate with many other applications to provide a seamless process flow.
  • Reporting capability. Appian has the ability to report on information from any connected system to provide real-time data. Very nice graphical and textual reports can be created.
  • Sites. The ability to create a place for a user to be able to perform their required job without having to see all of the other applications, reports and records. This allows a very focused approach for a user to interact with the system.
  • With every release Appian adds more functionality

  • Workfront limits the ability to change the field structure making each form become longer and longer with unnecessary information
  • Workfront does not offer the ability to hide fields that are deemed unnecessary for my organization
  • Workfront can become too complex and overbearing on workload management by entering in hours per task and so on. Instead offer hours involved per project overall.

Usability can refer to a number of different things. From a customer's perspective, using the product to set up their profile and complete the service requests is easy and straightforward.From a provider's perspective, we would like to have had a chance to try out the low code drag and drop capabilities to create our own business processes and forms, but relied instead on the Appian developers (who were awesome) to build our prototype. Maintaining users and cleaning up data in the prototype is very easy, which has made having a clean system to demonstrate to people has been very simple.

I have witnessed users with a PMP background pickup the tool and use it to its full capacity within a week with very little training. Users without basic project management skills, however, have taken much longer with extensive one-on-one training. The tool is highly intuitive if you have a PM background.

I would recommend all user's using Workfront to go through the training material provided. Have all user's practice in the Sandbox environment and have your workflow documented for the consultant before he arrives on site.

We went through a light-touch Request for Proposal process, explaining the problem we were trying to fix and giving lots of examples of the current process and pain points. Appian was one of 10 respondents but stood out as having all of the components that would make putting the customer first, sharing information across multiple government agencies, workflow, low code and speed to build a working prototype that would work on multiple devices (pc, mobile, table) out of the box.Appian understood the problem we were trying to fix, and their response answered the majority of our concerns about how to solve the problems for the business customer by using and re-using information. Other providers could do some parts of the functionality needed, or offered to build the prototype from scratch, or couldn't meet our timeframes (due to length of delivery or lack of resources). Some of the respondents missed the point entirely and simply did not meet the requirements we set.Another factor was the cost estimate presented by the respondents - Appian was not the cheapest, but they were definitely not wildly expensive (unlike a couple of other respondents)!

We have been using Workfront for about 3 years. During this time they continue to be a very stable project management system. Workfront's overall scalability is able to handle increased loads of work. When using Workfront for a project management tool for the web team, we store documents, images & video's without any issues. They work with their customer's to provide the best project management system in the market today! I highly recommend Workfront for all project management needs. Workfront strives to deliver unique technology solutions to growing companies!

  • Our objective to reduce customer effort when dealing with government by 25% was exceeded. In the process of applying for an alcohol licence renewal alone, we saw approximately 80% reduction in time and effort for the business customer - and that was just a prototype! Imagine the possibilities when this is taken into a live environment!

  • We are still in process of implementing Workfront. It's a slow roll out, one to two departments at a time. So our impact thus far is minimal but I can say having every program/project in a single system has provided a lesser need for email chains, meetings and "he said/she said" conversations.
