Apple iCloud

It seems to work very well for small group collaboration much better than it does for larger groups or more complex projects. The other (minor) thing, is that while working across locations, there isn't a chat function, which would be huge when working on documents that work off info that others have. While at the same location, working on a small project iCloud works great for us. The other issue is that some of our Android users can't do some of the same things their colleagues using iOS can while on the go.

Laserfiche

At its core, Laserfiche replaces paper, and any process where paper documents are printed, filled in, passed around, and stored is perfect for Laserfiche. While expensive, Laserfiche can provide a cost savings by replacing printers, copiers, scanners, paper, ink, and tasks that involve repetitious paper shuffling. It also does a good job of integrating with other systems through the workflow tool. It's not meant to replace purpose built software. You can't replace an accounting system or EMR with Laserfiche, though you can use laserfiche to store long term records from those systems, and automate paper based processes coming from those systems.

Pros

  • One of the best examples is that it provides its users with means to store data such as documents, photos, and music on remote servers for download to iOS, Macintosh or Windows devices, to share and send data to other users.
  • It acts as a data syncing center for email, contacts, calendars, bookmarks, notes, reminders (to-do lists), iWork documents, photos and other data.
  • Instead of being reliant on manual backups to a computer, iCloud provides the means to wirelessly back up iOS devices directly to iCloud.
  • A plus is that one can manage their Apple devices if lost or stolen.

  • It's very good at giving a wide range of options for importing and exporting data, the Windows Client software alone can pull files from a windows folder, has a software printer to print documents into Laserfiche instead of to paper, has Office integration, the ability to pull photos from cameras, and has a scanner component.
  • Laserfiche Workflow is an automation tool that is very flexible and powerful, and allows a wide range of options for automating document flows and procedures.
  • Laserfiche is very good at communicating with other systems, though some systems, like big iron minicomputers, take some extra work and effort. Setting up integrations with SQL server databases are as simple as any complex IT procedure can get.

Cons

  • Apple iCloud could find a way to compress files so that more could be stored. I have run out of space on many occasions.
  • Pricing for upgrades is a bit steep.
  • Better transferability between Apple and PC products.

  • The could have better options for read only users, the minimum option for read only users is 200.
  • More competitive material of why Laserfiche is better than the other products out there.
  • They could use a more robust capture engine that could be used for unstructured documents.

It's so seamless that I can't imagine another product doing a better job synchronizing all of my devices. I simply do not think about it at all. Everything happens behind the scenes and I'm confident that Apple keeps my data safe and secure. I'm a happy customer as far as this is concerned. I have not had a bad experience with this service.

Because there are no features that work well, for the Apple company level. For a third world software company, it could be acceptable.

It has an intuitive design that feels very natural to any user that has ever used Outlook or Windows Explorer. There are multiple ways to perform every action in order to help users with various software experiences find the shortcuts and actions they seek quickly and effectively.

I am very satisfied with Laserfiche. I have found that certain larger jobs may are slow. This may also be related to our infrastructure environment. We have been able to tune Laserfiche to increase performance on larger jobs.

Good overall. Some inquires could not be resolved or they were pushed to the next release which made it difficult at times to figure out a work around, but it was great to know that they listen to their clients and are willing to enhance the product as requested.

Easily accessible 24/7 so am able to complete courseware whenever time allows: Commute to work; waiting for friends or family; at night while relaxing [with a delicious glass of wine!]; whenever and wherever time and circumstances permit.Courseware is well written and presented in an easy to follow and understand format.

Alternatives Considered

Selected iCloud just because it is necessary for owners of Apple/iOS devices.

We evaluated about four different document imaging solutions through vendors in the area (Marco, Imaging Path, Xerox, and Laserfiche). We choose Laserfiche because the software is made to extend beyond the years of different software going out of date. The repository can hold any document and creates an image for redunacy which has actually come in handy with documents we had problems reading because software was not availalbe. Another point, is that Laserfiche is being utlized by the government as the product is secure, robust, and simplifies digital document managment.

Return on Investment

  • It is a fantastic setup and very well worth the investment in time and money.
  • It keeps everything in sync and doesn't let us down.
  • there really is no negative for our Apple centric operation

  • Laserfiche allowed our client to go paperless which is a huge savings. Warehouse space is eliminated and supplies for paper storage are a thing of the past. Employees are far more effective when things are at their fingertips.
