Apple iCloud

If you own devices on a multi-platform of Windows and Mac, iCloud is a great storage option. First, you do get some free storage when you own an Apple device. Second, if you own an Apple mobile device, you can place whatever file folders you desire under the iCloud folder and have mobile access. I have never owned anything but an Apple iPhone so I wouldn't know about access for Android.

Microsoft 365 Business

Microsoft 365 Business is well suited for businesses of all sizes across any industry I can think of. I would describe it as an essential tool for any business that owns computers. With this package, you can create your own templates for quotes, sales receipts, and tracking forms without getting into expensive custom solutions from outsourced parties.

Pros

  • Username and password storage
  • Secure password suggestions
  • Safari browser memory

  • We love that everyone is using the same version of Office so we can narrow issues down with formatting and troubleshooting.
  • We like that we can use Skype for text, voice, and video conference calls and even share our desktops and computers for remote troubleshooting.
  • It is nice that we no longer have to worry about our Exchange server going down or having file issues. That is all now outsourced and we have not had any downtime.
  • We also like the new larger mailbox size limits and attachment limits which were problems we always had to deal with in the past.

Cons

  • The Notes app in iCloud.com lacks the same functionality as iOS/Mac, in that it doesn't recognize when you've inserted a table into a note.
  • Pages, Numbers, and Keynote aren't as up-to-date as their iOS and Mac counterparts.
  • The level of editability (adding colors, etc.) isn't there in iCloud Drive like it is with Google Drive.

  • The breadth of products can be overwhelming. I applaud Microsoft for their innovation of new products and service, but it feels like some products step on the toes of others. At times, it can be tricky knowing which is the best for your specific use. Additionally, most people probably only use about 20% of the products/services/features.
  • Office is still Office. Let's face it, 90% of large companies use Microsoft Office, which is a large part of the 365 Business suite. Although the most recent updates are nice, it still feels a bit stagnant after all these years.
  • Steep learning curve for some users. Some of the apps and services included in 365 Business are so powerful that the learning curve for your average business user can be a bit steep. This requires added training resources and more of a barrier to adoption.

It's so seamless that I can't imagine another product doing a better job synchronizing all of my devices. I simply do not think about it at all. Everything happens behind the scenes and I'm confident that Apple keeps my data safe and secure. I'm a happy customer as far as this is concerned. I have not had a bad experience with this service.

It does what it does behind the scenes. Whenever you do use the interface online, its functions are very simple to use

Microsoft 365 Business can transform a business with everything they offer. However, it may be overkill for some and can come with a learning curve.

Apple iCloud is definitely a reliable storage and data management system. We haven't experienced many lags in loading or sharing, and they very quickly sync once you upload them into your personal iCloud. I haven't noticed any slowing down of other software or systems while using Apple iCloud - and they have great customer service.

Microsoft 365 Business has reliable performance. There is always room for improvement when it comes to speed, but that is heavily reliant on the Internet itself.

Alternatives Considered

NCommand was awful. It didn't work well for us, things went missing and tended to be clunky. iCloud has been great with a cleaner interface, more options to collaborate on a document within a single URL, and just being all around simpler. iCloud also hasn't gone down and been inaccessible as often as NCommand would.

Microsoft 365 Business is more robust than Google's suite of enterprise applications and services, but that doesn't necessarily make it better. It really depends on the individual organization. G Suite is more geared at communication and collaboration. Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, and Meet are fantastic cloud-based tools for many companies. It worked very well for a large educational institution that I previously worked for. However, Google does not offer products to compete with Dynamics CRM, PowerApps, etc...

Return on Investment

  • It has enabled us to work more efficiently.
  • It has increased accountability.
  • It has saved us money (in terms of time we would have paid out for employees to share files in less-efficient ways).

  • I don't have specific numbers, but we have saved money on not buying specific licenses for every program for every user.
