ApplicantStack

ApplicantStack would be useful for any size business with one or a variety of openings. It is designed to handle multiple job openings over time.

Hiretual

Hiretual is well suited for any recruiter looking to step their game up and get in touch with passive candidates who not only fit the requirements you're looking for, but who are also more likely to respond and be interested in the opportunities you have to offer. It is less suited for lazy recruiters who would rather skim job boards all day and talk to candidates who are looking for new jobs

Pros

  • The reports are particularly helpful. For the first few years, I didn't use the reports simply because we transitioned from paper applications and we were still learning about the online process. Now we review them monthly to see where any inefficiencies lie.
  • We have every application that has ever been submitted to our organization in the online database. If someone reapplies, we can look back and see the reasons we didn't pursue them. This does require us to make good notes to be able to look back on, which is a good practice regardless. Sometimes we are able to take a second look at someone if it was something like limited availability that took them out of the running initially versus a personality issue.
  • Simply put, the whole premise of the site is valuable. Being able to capture applications online, when that is how most people find us, is crucial.

  • Building Boolean search strings within a few clicks.
  • Ability to search on multiple platforms.
  • Constantly updating with the newest technology and platforms to source.

Cons

  • I believe this stems from integration with our website, but ever since our franchisor changed the layout of our application, we have had issues with people being able to complete our application. We very recently reduced our initial application to contact information only and have seen a twofold increase in the number of completed "applications". Technological ability is not a part of the job we mainly hire for, so this has worked better for us.
  • Setting up forms on the onboarding side can be arduous, but it is done so infrequently that it's not a deterrent for us. Once you have a setup that works, you're golden. You do have to use Internet Explorer when modifying forms to be able to save changes for some reason.
  • If you don't have someone tech savvy on staff, you will need to contact ApplicantStack staff to make changes to your application. They have been very helpful for me the couple times I have needed help.

  • Products are decent, although sometimes the floating browser icon can be (only mildly) annoying.

Again, from the CEO to the newest team member to join HIretual communication and follow through is outstanding.

Alternatives Considered

Applicantstack offered a high level of customization for us, at a price point their competitors couldn't touch. While it's got some room for improvement in reporting, we've been able to fill every gap with custom programming at an incredibly reasonable rate.

Hiretual and Entelo attempt to provide very similar services, but Hiretual's data is much more accurate and their platform is much easier to use

Return on Investment

  • We want to see more applications. Most months, it would be impractical to have all those papers on our recruiter's desk. I cannot imagine going back to paper after using ApplicantStack.

  • 3 pricing tiers: Free, Premium and PRO and all will easily prove their value after the first placement. Even the free tier allows almost full functionality and is great whether you are paying for one seat or 20!
