(UPDATE: Please note that my review was for the Version 5 of their apps. They have recently updated 2 of their main apps to V6 which show a lot of improvements. The sad thing however is that many of their 40+ apps never even made to V5 let alone V6. V5 to V6 has taken over a year and only the core apps are getting attention.)

As it stands Apptivo is only useful for one person or sole trader type entities. If your business wants to use all the apps and works internationally then Apptivo will create headaches and frustration rather than increasing productivity. They may solve many of the 100+ items we provided them with free of charge in an upcoming release, but we left with a bad taste in our mouth. Countless hours lost in our business while we acted as bug finders for Apptivo while paying for the product.

Wrike

Wrike is a great fit for teams who need significant reporting capabilities, strong collaboration tools, and the ability to create dynamic project templates. It might be overkill for small teams who don't need as much cross-team visibility, who prefer in-person or chat-based project collaboration, or whose work doesn't require repeatability of project templates.

  • Good for streamlining project management on projects over a long life cycle.
  • Helpful in keeping contacts up to date and relevant.
  • Streamlines processes across the organization where there are many departments.

  • Their interface is intuitive and easy to use. It's clean, and I really like both their mobile app (iPhone) and their desktop app (Mac).
  • Customizing workflows and approval processes is relatively easy, and adding to multiple projects with multiple assignees and watchers is excellent.
  • The organization is excellent and intuitive. Search functionality is pretty great. Both make it super easy to find what you're looking for... new, old, completed, etc.
  • Really like the different views - Konbon, list view, etc. If you're used to Trello, Basecamp, Asana, etc... there's a view that's pretty comfortable to you.

  • Homescreen claims to be the center of the application however the sub sections are mostly flawed or do not function as one would expect.
  • The built in email client kinda works but depending on which section of the app you are in the default font will be different from your signature. Also you cannot add a cell phone to staff signatures. I asked about this for months. It was never fixed. When will CRM companies learn that email is STILL the center of many business. It is unacceptable to have different fonts in the same mail and signatures that change from client to client.
  • They frequently messed up our contact data.
  • Multi currency exists on invoices but not on other apps.
  • Fragmentation with their apps....some apps are still on version 3 some on 4 and some on version 5. This means you are forced to deal with 2 or more different user interfaces within the same app.
  • No consistency between the apps.
  • Often there is little or no integration between the apps inside Apptivo.

  • Minor - assigning a default user. Each time I add a task now I have to assign a user. With me as the primary user, I would love to be able to set myself as a default. I've read some discussion on this and it can be done if you add the task under "My Work." When I'm adding multiple tasks, that extra step seems counterproductive.

Wrike is a free resource for us currently, we moved off the subscription as the team had some adjustments. If we were to go back to a paid model or require more time reporting I'd have to look at alternatives such as Podio. I am the sole manager of Wrike currently internally, and would like to get more people on board to justify the cost

Our uses kept running into bugs that stopped them from doing simple things like creating a contact or selecting an item from a custom drop list which is required to save the contact or item. This of course is after time was spent filling out all the previous data which gets lost when you cannot complete the form. This is just one example of many.

Wrike provides a great deal of flexibility that allows you to structure it to best serve your needs. The interface is well designed so that features are convenient to use. Some features are limited to the Enterprise license which is more expensive which stops me from providing a 10 rating.

Over two years of (almost) daily usage without outages. Don't remember any errors. I give it 9 only because some Wrike plugins (for online document edit) are based on NPAPI architecture. These types of plugins are being phased out in new browsers, and NPAPI plugins are disabled by default in recent versions of Chrome so you have to do some browser adjustments when you switch browsers or move to another computer.

We've had good and bad interactions with Wrike support people. We've definitely had situations where people at Wrike have given us incomplete or incorrect answers to questions but their folks have also bailed us out on a number of occasions. It's definitely a comfort knowing that it's relatively easy to get someone on the phone to help.

Wrike does a great job of provide a breadth of videos for learning their program. This includes a 'getting started' sett of videos along with a collection of more in depth videos to assist more experienced users. Combined with their excellent chat support learning wrike is easy and it includes easy access to best practices.

The price was right for what we needed to use Apptivo for (the CRM and the contact management/project management models). And, we needed something basic and easy to implement so we could get up and running with little down time. The other systems we evaluated didn't seem to have the exact pricing and features/functionality we were looking for so we made the determination that Apptivo would be the best fit.

Wrike feels a lot like a more powerful Asana. And Workfront - well - we had a lot of issues with that system. It may have just been too big for our needs, but Wrike felt just right for an organization of our size with our needs.
